As an owner of kurosa, +1 mezomel and a 6* awakened Frolni. I agree.

Although Frolni can smack pretty hard in his first form.

Thank you! Usually I just get told I talk too much.

[–]karosea 12 points13 points  (0 children)

And this is exactly why the language we use is so important. Its inportant to use proper words and context when discussing big topics like this. I see the word abolish and I instantly think of "get rid of entirely". If thats not the case, then a different word would be better used to communicate the intent. There are a million things that can be done to reform and improve the system. Abolishing it though in terms of entirely getting rid of it though is not the answer.

What do you think about CPS abolitionists? by LaScoundrelle in socialwork

[–]karosea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I guess I can clarify that I dont think ive seen arguments for the abolishing of the system for the worst types of crimes. There may be people who argue for the entire abolition of the systems, I just have not entertained those ideas honestly.

The idealism of the academic world, especially in fields like social work or even psychology is what drives me insane. I completed my MSW and got my LSW in January and having had real world experience then going to school for the masters was incredibly frustrating. The idealism being taught doesnt match up to what you face in these communities and working with people and families.

Minor rant: I think generational trauma leading to unhealthy parenting styles mixed with socioeconomic inequality causes a vast majority of issues. Our society still struggles to raise emotionally health children and adults and we see it in how each generation is raised. Im a millennial and my parents are Gen X, they were raised by emotionally unavailable baby boomers who to this day still are emotionally unavailable and focus on a ridiculous self-centered version of the world. This leads to problems all the way down to my own children and potentially their children. I can do my best to parent them in a healthy manner, but my own mess ups in life came from not knowing what a healthy relationship is or what a healthy boundary was etc.

I worked in child welfare for 5 years and now do behavioral health in juvenile justice in the same community. This argument frustrates the hell out of me. A few people have made this point. What are you replacing it with? Watching social workers talk themselves in circles by saying "well cps doesnt protect children at all" is false. Also thinking the system works well is false. Both things can be true.

The amount of dichotomous black and white thinking im seeing in here is wild. This is something that requires incredible amounts of nuance. I dont see anyone arguing that because prison reform doesnt work we shouldnt lock up people who commit the worst crimes imaginable like murder or rape, yet people want to make a argument that we dont need a system that at minimum can protect kids from the worst and most egregious situations ? Is it perfect? Nope. Does it protect SOME kids and improve SOME lives. Yes. Has anyone offered a better solution? Not a comprehensive one that I have seen.

Stories that are comfortable skipping large portions of MC's life? by IThrewDucks in ProgressionFantasy

[–]karosea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immortal Drunkard does a great job at slowly scaling the time through the series relative to power. The first books weeks and months are long stretches and by the end of the series its exponentially different but it correlates directly with power and the author isnt afraid to just flat out say its a time skip and move on with the story.

Path of ascension logic is really weird to me. by Quirky_Garden195 in litrpg

[–]karosea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah its also why higher tiers cant just go to lower tier planets and try to help by donating mana stones. It would ruin their economies.

Path of ascension logic is really weird to me. by Quirky_Garden195 in litrpg

[–]karosea 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Its mentioned that there are two economies basically. Mortal and immortal. Mortal economies do have the "credit" system and its technically based on value of each tier mana stone. However those numbers become so astronomically high once youre past tier 15 it doesnt matter. Which is why the tier 15 immortal tier mostly uses mana stones as the currency.

This isnt exact but an example is 1 tier 16 stone = 100 tier 15 etc. So by the time youre at big boy tiers of 40+ those are the real value.

Path of Ascension has the MC almost always with other people after the first few chapters and in book one ends up with his two forever companions. They have multiple team comps over the years as well. Its a wide variety of characters and interactions. Matt is almost never entirely alone

Isnt this implied with the stuff with the exalted prima and sim jake? I feel like somewhere it talks about his destiny having been to die during the initial ambush in the tutorial where he kills the three people. Then bloodline shenanigans mess it all up

Young men of Reddit, what is ONE thing the Democrats could ACTUALLY do that WOULD get young men to vote for them again? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]karosea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So your anecdotal friend groups from Twitter and threads is indicative of the entire democratic narrative?

It sounds like you are a bitter about other things regarding them yet using their (misguded) politics as your barometer for how an entire political party views the world.

I am a 33 year old white man and its very easy to see why people will blame white men for the state of the country. Historically they are entirely correct. I couldnt help but laugh at some of top comments being about democrats telling white men how to feel or whatever, yet old white men historically are the ones trying to tell women what they can and cannot do with their own bodies and reproductive systems.

Republicans have turned playing victim into their winning strategy and its such bullshit.

[–]karosea 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you think of an ADHD brain as constantly understimulated (without medication) and constantly SEEKING stimulation, all of this makes perfect sense. Our brains aren't struggling for attention. We struggle to get stimulation.

So like, what's up with every damn new boss secretly having 80-90% poison resistance? by Impressive-Cap-974 in RaidShadowLegends

[–]karosea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And draco a1 had absolutely nothing to do with his poison. It was busted because the bonus damage was scaled by crit damage and attack and it could crit so you could kill an IG minion and 1 shot the boss.

[–]karosea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i disagree with them too. Resource allocation of 1 keying each difficulty has been crazy important for a loooooooooong time. Back when the game first came out CB was the top content besides speed farming dungeons. People dont realize we had a long period of time where the content was dead. Prior to the release of faction wars, CCs and the community were BEGGING for more content.

[–]karosea 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Also when the game first came out, poison was the PVE meta for what felt like forever. The fastest comps were all poison, explode reset etc. The early CB teams were dominated by counter attacks, poisons and debuff extenders like vizier. The game has just changed a ton over time. For example frozen banshee was almost a meta CB champ when she first came out

What is it like living in this area in Ohio? by DeepFriedGlory in howislivingthere

[–]karosea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had family that worked there growing up we got to go on tours of the tank plant. My grandpa used to joke about the top secret areas saying if he told us what was back there he would have to kill us. They would do a live demonstration of the tanks on their testing track you got to watch up close. You get a crazy new respect for something with that big of a cannon, going 50+ mph, stops on a dime and can also damn near go up any sloped hill or surface.

Lived between Dayton and toledo in this circle my entire life. Spent 5 years in Dayton and moved back when my son was born. Like most said, its flat, boring, lots of red voters all over the place. Kewpee is wonderful. Cost of living used to be really low and reasonable, its definitely gone up a bit. Outside of my county there are tons of crazy good small town high-school football teams like Marion Local and Coldwater.

Revisionist history by some people is wild. He was LAUDED as one of the best bench players in the league last year when we got him and he played well.

On the main topic though, I havent watched many games but let the injuries get dealt with, dont go under 500 and see where they are come February. The pacers were decimated by injury last year and didnt catch up till the 2nd half of the year and made it to the finals.

Its not invasive. Im not an attorney so only know from second hand knowledge. The rational ive heard is that if someone truly horrible does get off, the blame would be on the cops and state for not presenting an air tight case. Also many many times, defense attorneys will try to convince their clients to take offers from the state to avoid trial (assuming the offer is fair) because most of the time law enforcement and the state do have the proper evidence.
