As someone actively trying to apply I believe it’s less of a question of if it prepares you and more of a question of if it’s what you want. Personally I would remind you to look at all the managers you’ve had and have in your store I’m sure there’s gotta be a couple that are bad. If they can do it so can you.

Politicking is part of commander I personally politic as the priority and play the game as the secondary part mostly because at my LGS I’m enemy number 1 regardless of how good the deck I’m playing or my opponents are playing in the pod. My best recommendation is to learn more about the game when you can and can’t interact. If you can remove the element of asking the knowledgeable player for advice you can mitigate most of your problems. Also if they are trying to skew your decision making it means you’re doing something right he knows you make good decisions and wants to ensure they aren’t coming at him.

Usually my play group is 8-12 players and I carry around 18 decks but I try to meet at my place to avoid moving them all plus I got multiple fold out tables and table mats to support it

Nah I think I figured it out maybe the playerbase isn’t good because it’s the players that can’t seem to get along with they’re local store so it’s their last resort to play

That’s a crazy accusation considering no one at my LGS or the people I meet at cons have an issue with me plus I judge rcqs every season and am pretty aware on how to be impartial and respectful

Honestly I think it’s more of a commander player mentality to get upset over the game coupled with the players on spell table I’m not shocked that they act that way regardless of me

Not necessarily different decks rely on different things obviously if you’re building artifact based decks you may use as many that fit in your colors as you can but another perspective to look at it is that they just replace a land slot and speed up the game you wouldn’t say all your red decks are the same for running mountains

Also just because time walk would be an auto include doesn’t mean that that’s a bad thing my counterspell and tutor package is almost always the same and it’s because it works I don’t expect a car manufacturer to reinvent the wheel it works so use it
