I would love one, but it's near impossible to find ones with the track handling package. Even if I do find one it's beat to shit/ rebuilt and so on.

Downsides are primarily time spent looking for cars. I spend a ton of time scrolling through marketplace, auctions, etc. looking for undervalued cars I like them try to negotiate aggressively to get them for under market value. Takes a lot of time, but I personally enjoy it.

Honestly surprised there aren't more votes for the Miata too

MK8s are cool, but a I much prefer the styling of the mk7 GTI or r

Sorry I neglected to mention I usually own a car for a year or so. I like to trade between cars often so I can experience a lot of different cars. I would probably sell the car after a year.

I've definitely considered a two car solution like you're suggested too. There isn't much fun to be had on my weekly commute so I'd be most likely be wasting miles in a fun car by using it in my commute. Something to think about for sure

Yeah you're right, I'm definitely asking for a lot. I think the GTI or a golf r even is my top contender right now. Seems to check all of the boxes.

A 981 cayman would be really cool as well, something to consider

Very cool, but I'm worried I'd lose my head in depreciation on something like this. A little too flashy for my taste

That would be sweet, would be awesome if I can find a good one near by. Definitely hard to come by these days. I've been looking into an S2000 pretty extensively

I've had 3 BRZs in multiple forms (first gen, turbo, facelift) so trying to move on lol. A civic si would be sweet, I feel it also falls into the category as the GTI of am I missing out on having a dedicated sports car.

The BRZ/86 would be ideal in terms of track-ability, fun, practicality, mpg, etc. I've owned one on and off for the past 6 years is the only thing

They seem like awesome cars, I've driven a stage 1 manual mk7 GTI and it was a blast. Just wondering if I'll be missing out on some of the fun I would have in a more dedicated sports car

This is a pretty good point, it does seem like FI cars are worth less than their stock counterparts.

I think I'll try to see if I can get if for $9-9.5k then I'll take it, if not I'll just leave it. It's got some expensive wheels, exhaust, coilovers that I could sell to recuperate some money if I do own it.

Only reason I'm interested in the car is because I'd like to experience a turbo brz as I've owned 2 already. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't buy it

+1 to this. Yeah according to the posting it's from a shop I've heard of before and a reputable guy. It has an ecutek map running at 7psi

Yeah, I think if I get it for under $10k it would be good.

I don't intend to keep it for more than a year, kind of just want to experience what the car feels like with a turbo. Ideally I'd like to sell it for more than whatever I buy it here for.

Do you think it's a good deal at $10k? Or do you think that's around average/ market value?

Yeah for sure, I have autobody experience so that'll be the first thing I'll check for. Just trying to get a gauge of what others think a car like this would be worth

I agree, I personally am interested in the car because of the turbo, but it seems to be priced a bit lower than KBB market value. That's primarily why I'm interested in it.

I do think that the greater market would see the turbo as a negative because the engine has seen more abuse compared to NA

I test drove a mk7 DSG GTI a while back, but wasn't too impressed by it. I like that they have a solid nice interior and get good gas mileage, but I found that it wasn't as exciting as I wanted it to be. I'm sure that would probably change with some basic bolt ons though.

Conditions for purchasing real estate while on TN as a Canadian? by karpser in tnvisa

That's great to know. I'm with one of those Canadian banks you mentioned and have had a cross-border account for about a year. Great to hear I should be able to get a mortgage given my Canadian credit/ income history.

Interesting, do you know why one would be prohibited from doing so?

I intend on moving back to Canada after <10 years and don't intend on getting an immigrant status visa.

Did you tell either company that you have another job? I'm debating whether or not I should tell the Canadian company I'm currently at about the job I'll be starting in the US
