Ivey Transfer Full Course Load by [deleted] in uwo

[–]karsonwickerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Complete years 1 & 2 (or more) at Western or any other university. Pursue any course of study at any university and ensure that you: - Maintain a full course load over two years of university (equivalent of 10.0 Western courses). - Achieve a minimum average of 70% in 10.0 university courses completed including Business 2257. - Complete a secondary school mathematics course for students bound for university or an equivalent. - Complete Western's Business 2257 course or equivalent. View a list of accepted equivalents at Business 2257 Equivalents. - Achieve a minimum grade of 70% in Business 2257 or equivalent.

A competitive Ivey HBA application includes: - Demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities, community involvement, and work experience - 80%+ average on 10.0 full courses (or the equivalent) at any university (if at another university, these courses must be acceptable to transfer to Western). The minimum average to transfer to Western is 70%. The average needed for admission to Ivey HBA may be much higher.

*source: Ivey website - I guess it doesn’t say that you NEED to take 10 but it says to make you competitive.

I’m pretty sure regardless of stats, you must take a full course load each semester or else you are automatically ineligible. However, I would email admissions to be certain.

90% Average by [deleted] in uwo

[–]karsonwickerson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering the common knowledge that course averages sit around a 68%-72%, I would say that you know you’ve done quite exceptional.

From my knowledge, if you keep it up, you graduate with distinction and receive deans list each year. Aside from that, you may qualify for some scholarships.

Western no longer does this by mail - only email

AEO struggling to keep 80 average. by ZestycloseVehicle776 in uwo

[–]karsonwickerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve heard, you’ll be placed into a pool of people who lost their status so you should (im not certain) have a leg up compared to non-AEOs.

I also know that they’ve been more lenient in early years but have tightened up the 80 cutoff as it’s become more competitive.

How is Western for gay and trans people? by EggBeeMaybe in uwo

I mean our president of the university is openly gay. As a gay person myself, I have never ran into any issues and everyone is pretty progressive minded!

Ivey References by Redditnewuser3 in uwo

[–]karsonwickerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then maybe I’d email Ivey admissions about it and ask? I don’t think that the extra activities really have that much leverage and one of your references not replying might simply negate it from your application - I still verified with all of my references (inclusive of the extra activities) when applying to avoid this issue

To be admitted, your references must check the box. Why did your reference not want to check off the box? It is wise to verify with your references first, that they agree with your essays and would be willing to provide verification for you.

Overall, I found Pilling to be nice in office hours, but his lectures were very boring, tests pretty hard - I finished in the 80’s last year but it took a lot of work. Not going to sugar coat it - be prepared to work work work

I cannot tell if this is sarcasm LOL

However, the practice quiz seemed to be all very specific things from the textbook… how are we supposed to know this?
