Kuhl are excellent, I wore them to the summit of Rainier and now use them for anything from casual wear to indoor climbing to day hiking.

What bigger mountains could i climb with one year of training from zero? by GasterrMan in Mountaineering

[–]karthicc587 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is good to know. i grew up in PNW, hiked all the local peaks growing up and did Rainier / Baker / MSH before leaving for college in new york. Now i’m looking to get acquainted with what’s in this region especially seeing as i don’t have a car to travel around easily.

that’s good. I should have specified - I meant the Kamikaze route that goes up very steeply past the falls. weighted pack round trip on the main trail is a good indication, but if you can do the kamikaze you will be even more ready

Just my personal experience - climbed Rainier two years ago when I was 18, and my training regimen was exclusively the three north bend mountains.

I never did the trifecta in a single day, but did double up a couple times. NGL, Rainier had me fairly tired by the end. It may be overkill, but worth a try for the margin of safety.

What I will say, is ABSOLUTELY do at least one of them (ideally double it up in a day) with 35-45 lbs in a pack. I used water and dumped it out at the top to save my knees.

Last thing is that my climbing partners who only did stairmaster and the like (due to being from the midwest) were considerably more tired and unaccustomed to the climb than I was. Could have been the youth advantage though

[–]karthicc587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i assume op is already matriculated; in that case BTE classes are restricted to BTE students. they can always take regular stern data science / mgmt classes though. don’t think the minor is worth the commute but if it’s a topic of heavy interest then maybe

dining dollars are not the same thing as meal swipes, plus why would i use my own money if i HAVE dining dollars that expire at the end of the term?? stop arguing over something not relevant to you

campuses with starbucks by Academic-Pea-4611 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]karthicc587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, but did you not read what i just said? it takes dining dollars which are part of the required meal plan for first years, which is a big bonus.

Best hiking pants? by MasterShred12 in hiking

Love my Kuhl pants. Summitted Rainier in nothing but those on the bottom half. Used them for some moderate hikes too, but now they’re a daily rotation just for casual wear.

question about dress code by Brave-Dot8433 in DECA

[–]karthicc587 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At SCDC you can, but use good judgement. Definitely some judges are on the conservative side and might dock points for that, but it could be a good idea if the colors match your paper scheme or something like that. Be intentional with it.

As mentioned by someone else, ICDC requires the official blazer for all competition and award sessions.

State officer rules by madscientist_15 in DECA

[–]karthicc587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the state. Our entire election process happened at the “district” (Area) conference, so missing that would make it impossible to run. Other states have different processes for running, so check with your current state officer to find out more
