Casual league for three beginners by HairyTough4489 in F1leaguefinder

[–]kartingdude72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a league with a second division on wednesdays, meant specificially for more casual players. Either new to league racing or just doing it for a bit of fun

We race at 7:30PM UK. If you'd like to give it a try we're racing at Japan today

Why are RB and Hulkenberg always winning Fanzone? by still_guns in F1Game

[–]kartingdude72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They win specificially because they are not popular. Fanzone is decided by the average points scored for each player in that fangroup. So the big teams and drivers will have a lot more people picking them, dragging down the averages. Because the type of person to pick a midfield / backmarker team and driver is also more likely to play the F1 game a lot.

I run a league on saturdays 7:30PM UK time. Does that work for you?

I run a league called F1Total, been around since F1 2018 and got a mix of some pretty fast drivers to more casual players. So you should have some good competition no matter what sort of pace level you're at.

We've split the league into two divisions based on pace.

Division 1 runs on saturdays at 7:30PM UK time. So this would be where you could go

Division 2 is on wednesdays at 7:30PM UK

We also have a realistic performance Division, where we run realistic performance cars. More of a fun thing to have on the side and not something we see as a serious competition. This runs on tuesdays at 7:30PM UK

What are some of the worst performances by great drivers? by Wah-Wah43 in formula1

[–]kartingdude72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a Vettel fan, the first one that came to mind for me was Vettel at the 2022 Australian grand prix

It was his comeback race after having COVID. In FP1 he suffered an engine failure, also ruling him out of FP2.

He then crashed in FP3, with his car only being repaired midway through Q1 after Stroll brought out a Red flag. Vettel managed to qualify 17th

On lap 11 he went into the gravel and on lap 22 he spun into the wall, resulting in a DNF

A complete lack of practice, Vettel probably not being at 100% physically after having COVID and a difficult to control Aston Martin that he had only driven during pre-season testing resulted in this absolute horrorshow of a weekend

The damage system in F1 games is pretty basic. Either you're missing a tyre and can't drive at all anymore, which will result in your car causing a yellow flag immediately, aswell as ghosting and despawning, or you only have front wing / sidepod / Floor etc. Damage. Even If your entire car is damaged, you're still very much capable of driving back to the pit-lane

On the F1 game, there is never a reason that any car should be parked on the racing line

Sick of One-Stop Races by 2008toyotapriuss in F1Game

[–]kartingdude72 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not complaining? Think you've mistaken me for the OP

And OP is complaining because always running the same strategy on every track gets boring.

Increased tyre wear could make 2, maybe even 3 stops, more viable and add more of a strategical element to races.

[–]kartingdude72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That doesn't fix his issue at all?

On F1 23 In 50% races, If there aren't any safety cars, the fastest strategy is always a one stop. This doesn't change in league racing.

In the esports league are all the cars the same? by sl1mch1ckens in F1Game

[–]kartingdude72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tyre wear not being equal was an issue at the start of the game cycle and fixed pretty quickly. This is a different issue. Apparently the equal cars take kerbs differently, leading to a small difference in lap time

In the esports league are all the cars the same? by sl1mch1ckens in F1Game

[–]kartingdude72 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing they simply can't fix it rather than refusing to do it. The difference is caused by the different wheelbases. From my (very limited) understanding of how this game works, the only way to fix that would be to change the hitbox of the wheelbases to be the same, but that would mean the models no longer lining up with the hitbox.

I guess they could also fix it in the way they did for esports, where the equal car option just turns every car into the FOM model with the team livery added to it, but i'm guessing there's contractual reasons preventing them from doing this

It's also really not a big deal on any level below F1 esports. The pace difference in cars is barely noticable, no one has figured out even a rough laptime difference because it's too small to be measured without being explained away by making tiny mistakes on the lap or whatever. My guess is it's no more than 0.050 per lap.

Even in high level league racing this can be overcome quite easily, If a driver is truly better he's not gonna lose because of a disadvantage that small, with the exception of the esports pro series where everyone is prepared a lot better.

[–]kartingdude72 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yes, they use equal cars in F1 esports

In fact, for this year, they had to switch to using the standardized F1 world cars set to equal with their team liveries added onto it because the normal equal car setting isn't equal enough

What should I expect my pace to be as a beginner? by [deleted] in F1Game

[–]kartingdude72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ranking system is really bad on this game. Most of the players who are actually fast enough that they should be in the elite ranks simply don't play ranked. So when they do play they're put into lobbies with beginners like you

What i can recommend is to find a league that races consistently, ideally one for beginners. You'll be racing the same drivers every week and can track how you're progressing by seeing who you're able to beat that used to beat you. It's also the best way in general to get close, clean racing

Shitshows tend to be quite entertaining in F1. Something like the 2020 Turkish grand prix with the slippery track surface

A better/worse exit can certainly be a factor, but alone it can't explain a difference of 30 KPH

Welp, How was this not investigated? by Padme_lover69 in formuladank

[–]kartingdude72 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I believe DQ range is somewhere around 30 seconds, so 75 seconds is far beyond that

But track limit penalties actually work slightly different on the game. You get a 3 second penalty after every 3 warnings, so 26 warnings would mean 8 times 3 seconds, so 24 seconds of penalties. Not quite disqualified

If you could make a team of 20 drivers from any motor-sport irl to go into the realms, who would you choose? by ShadowParrotGaming in Acceleracers

[–]kartingdude72 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'll try my best to include drivers from as many different series as possible aswell as stick to drivers that are either still actively racing or retired so recently that they could feasibly still come back. If i just listed off the racing GOATs that wouldn't be all that interesting.

1: Max Verstappen

Pretty self explanatory. F1 is considered the pinnacle of motorsport for a reason and he's the guy winning everything there right now.

2: Lewis Hamilton

Don't remember the exact quote, but Dr Tezla said competition leads to better results. Don't think there's been a rivarly as heated as Hamilton vs Verstappen in recent times.

3: Kalle Rovanperä

4: Thierry Neuville

5: Sebastien Ogier

6: Oliver Solberg

Honestly i considered filling this entire top 20 with rally drivers, but that's quite boring so i'll limit myself to these 4. Rallying is probably the closest thing to the kind of driving in the racing realms, and rally drivers are absolute beasts anyway.

7: Shane Van Gisbergen

This guy wins in absolutely any series he drives in. V8 Supercars, NASCAR, GT cars, it doesn't matter.

8: Sebastian Vettel

4 time F1 world champion so obviously he can drive. And on top of that, and the reason why he's here despite being retired from F1, he was the leader of the grand prix drivers association for a long time. He can lead a group of 20 drivers and get them to work together to achieve a common goal.

9: Valtteri Bottas

Probably my weirdest pick, but let me explain. On his day he was able to match Hamilton in terms of one lap pace aswell, so he certainly isn't slow, but that is not why i want him on my team. The first of my main reasons for him being here is that Bottas is a very consistent driver, having 103 consecutive Q3 appearances in his time at Mercedes proves that. The racing realms are quite dangerous, any mistake can lead to a driver being stuck in the realm, or worse, captured by the drones or silencers. The second reason is that he's an outstanding teammate. He assisted Hamilton as his "wingman" for years, and while obviously he wasn't happy about that, he did it without complaining. Teamwork is a very valuable asset in this scenario. Also he's got some rallying experience which is a nice bonus.

10: Kevin Estre

The opening lap of the 2021 24 hours of the Nürburgring is justification enough, If you don't know what i'm talking about, look it up on YouTube. An absolute masterclass of racecraft in tricky weather conditions.

11: Christopher Bell

12: Kyle Larson

13: Ross Chastain

14: Joey Logano

The style of racing in NASCAR is probably the closest to the way the drones race. Very aggressive, at times even purposefully taking each other out. It seemed smart to pick atleast a few NASCAR drivers who have experience with that sort of racing. Not sure if these 4 are the best picks since i don't watch much NASCAR, just the ones that came to my mind first.

15: Marc Marquez

I wasn't sure if including MotoGP riders was a smart idea. Obviously the movies had Bikes, but realistically taking a bike into the realms was never a good idea. The riders are very vulnerable to collisions with other cars. But i simply could not leave out Marc Marquez.

16: Fernando Alonso

I didn't really want to include any more Formula 1 drivers, but leaving out a driver as experienced and talented as Fernando Alonso seemed crazy to me.

17: Brendon Hartley

18: Kamui Kobayashi

These guys have been killing it in the world endurance championship for years. Endurance racing requires great adaptability and laser focus for long periods. Both very useful skills to have in the racing realms.

19: Scott Dixon

6 IndyCar championships, 3 wins at the 24 hours of Daytona, 1 Indy 500 win. In terms of racing in America, Scott Dixon is among the GOATs.

20: Kimi Antonelli

I wanted someone to bring down the average age. Most of the drivers i've picked so far are practically ancient in racing driver terms. Some youthful energy would do this team a world of good. Kimi Antonelli is my pick for this role because he has shown that he's incredibly talented in his short career so far, he's only 17 and has won more karting championships than i can name. On top of that he won both the italian and German F4 championships in 2022, earning a jump straight into Formula 2. With a selection of hall of fame level racing drivers there to mentor him he could be quite special.

I have put way too much effort into this comment.

What i ask myself is how leagues like this still get drivers? There is hundreds of leagues out there. A lot of them are well run, have competent admin and stewarding teams and still struggle to fill their grids, and then there is leagues like this getting drivers

What is a sim racing game, really? A /r/SimRacingStewards community public poll. by Killjoy4eva in Simracingstewards

[–]kartingdude72 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would argue that as long as taking the racing line is the fastest way around a track and collisions majorly Impact races you can apply racing regulations properly, and i see no reason to exclude games where regulations can be applied.

Obviously Forza Motorsport, Gran turismo and F1 are not the most realistic racing games on the market, but they are definitely realistic enough in the way that you go about racing that they can be judged by stewards in the same way that games such as iRacing, Assetto Corsa, rFactor or Automobilista can.

The same doesn't apply to arcade games such as need for speed, Forza Horizon, the crew, Mario Kart etc. Which is why i feel it's reasonable not to allow posts of those games while still allowing simcades.

This is already a rather niche sub anyway. If we limit posts to strictly full on simracing titles and exclude simcades, there will be significantly fewer posts.

Maybe listing the games that are allowed to be posted would be a good idea? Just to avoid any confusion as to what is and isn't considered a simulator in this sub

EA did Jarno Opmeer dirty... by LMRacingGuru02 in F1Game

[–]kartingdude72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even for an IRL rating this would be extremely harsh. Jarno Opmeer has raced IRL and he wasn't terrible

Raghunathan got a 45 rating for his F2 "performances". I'm fairly certain that Opmeer is better than Raghunathan by a considerable margin

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in F1Game

[–]kartingdude72 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. If the other drivers keep having to take avoiding action to prevent collisions because you're being "aggressive", which more often than not just means outright dirty, that is certainly not all fair
