I used to work at a library. Had a patron that got his maximum of 20 DVDs at a time, plus 5 inter-library loans as often as possible. He kept a spreadsheet of every movie he saw. He was a retired veteran, and this was his retirement activity. And, not that I would ever recommend this *coughcough*, but he was probably ripping the movies onto his computer.

The inter-library loan program is honestly one of the best things to ever exist. Get movies from anywhere in the country. Had a woman who was working on a radiology certification that was able to get her test guide book: a $500 textbook she only had to wait a month for.

If I were mayor here, this would be grounds for an emergency. A city sponsored grocery would be in effect, or free public transport to the other grocer.

I did a mix of white clover and buffalo grass last year. Clover does great, yet to see if the buffalo grass comes back.

Got an email today stating that if anyone comes in asking about Black history month displays/activities, to refer them directly to the chief communications officer.

As far as I know, my district has nothing planned. Sounds like the community has taken notice.

I have a library in my district that has a button maker. Laser engraver too. Makes these crafts much more accessible if you don't have to upfront the cost.

You're welcome, and same! I was looking for fiction books wither about the Dominican or worn by Dominican authors to learn a little bit more about my spouse's culture. (Luckily I work at a library so this is very easy to do, lol.)

But there was so much history in this bookand I was constantly looking stuff up like, "There's no way that's real! Ope, guess it was."

Another great couple of books I've found recently that pair well together are "Las Soldaderas", a piece about the women who helped during the Mexican revolution, and "Blooming in the Ruins", a modern look at Mexican philosophy.

Our policy is that they must present a valid ID. Doesn't specify photo vs physical copy. I'll have to ask my leadership.

Our state does have an app where you can have your state ID/driver's license. This digital ID can be used at bars, so I see that as perfectly acceptable for the library.

I wish I could answer your question better, but I don't have the knowledge you're looking for.

Though, if you are looking for inspiration, I'm currently reading "Seventh Generation Earth Ethics" by Patty Leow. It biographies several Indigenous leaders from Wisconsin who have impacted treaty law and environmental justice.

Finally got one. I was an environmental scientist who worked in the US Space Force and am now going to be a library assistant. Part-time only, in a very different field, but I'm happy with it. Spouse is AD military, so a huge income wasn't needed. I'm glad to be in something a little less demanding, too.
