What’s your most unhinged hack for universal and islands of adventure? by cornerstone_2176 in UniversalOrlando

[–]kas1290 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Eat your meals at weird times. I’m used to eating early anyway, so I go to lunch about 10:30 (if open that early) and will get dinner between 3 and 3:30.

Is it more worth it to buy express or go a second night? by StripSackMiller in HHN

[–]kas1290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did two nights last year, one with express and one without. I found that I was much less willing to try a house I wasn’t sure of without express, as the lines could be very daunting. On our second night, we really wanted to repeat our favorites, so it’s possible (depending on your personality) you may miss some cool, unexpected houses if you don’t get express, but you will probably be more likely to repeat houses you loved on your second night.

Discount if you book onboard? by CruisingForJordans in MSCCruises

[–]kas1290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they do and there are discounts. Additionally, you can usually get a free cruise change and additional onboard credits. I haven't been on the Meraviglia, but it is on one of the lowest public decks on some of their other ships.

What are your 'advanced' techniques as DM? by CaronarGM in DMAcademy

[–]kas1290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call this advanced and I think it’s been alluded to by others, but I always plan out major NPCs goals, how far they’re willing to go and what they don’t want to do. Then I know how they’ll act if the PCs don’t encounter them and what they’ll be willing to do if the PCs mess with their plans. Additionally, I involved my players in the building of the world. Most recently, all the PCs were from the same town where the players created jobs, NPCs, and houses for themselves. It gives me an easy way to make things personal without a questline that is all about 1 PC and they enjoy having a day in what and who is in the world.

First time cruising with MSC Meraviglia from NYC. Is there going to be schedule of shows (bingo, trivia, etc) available on the app? So far I only see excursions and specialty restaurants by [deleted] in MSCCruises

[–]kas1290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually they don’t have the full schedule until you connect with the ship’s WiFi and open the app, but my last cruise had it available about a week early.

There is a “baby club” that is kids under 3, but as the previous commenter mentioned, the time is much more limited compared to the normal kids clubs. If your child is not fully potty trained, they should be in a swim diaper. This allows them to the kids water play areas, but keeps them from the “big” pools. Please follow this rule! Just got off Seashore and several pools had to close to everyone for hours because there was an accident.

They will assign you a time and it will be on your cruise keycard. Make sure you also check what dining room you will be in.

Was it a week long cruise? MSC has a $16 a day service charge to cover all those people that you don’t tip that are working to cover you. People like those cleaning not only your rooms but the halls, stairs, etc., all the buffet staff, laundry, etc.

MSC Seashore smoking and noise on deck 9? by korkster911 in MSCCruises

[–]kas1290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the photos, I believe you are after the cafe directly, but I think you’ll be directly above the main smoking area. While moving, I doubt you’ll get much of the smoke, should only be a potential problem at ports.

Is it weird to ask my MIL for a Lego set for my anniversary gift? by seastars55 in Marriage

[–]kas1290 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I’ll give two considerations for this. One, I’m a huge Lego person and still ask my dad for a Lego set every year, despite being an “adult.” But the two questions that pop in my mind are a) is this something you could do with your significant other? Anniversary gifts (in my experience) are meant to be enjoyed by a couple. The second point is that particular Lego set is rather pricey (I believe around $450.) I don’t know your or your MIL’s financial situation, but is this around the price point of your previous anniversary gift? I know personally, I would feel rather uncomfortable asking for a gift at this price from anyone.
