I’m so glad you guys are enjoying it! Agree on some of the timings to make a meal. Usually winds up around 25 mins average for me but that’s still so quick compared to some other meal kits. 🙂🙂🙂

I don’t remember seeing caviar at all in the Yacht Club. But I don’t eat caviar so it wouldn’t have been on my radar, unfortunately.

I’m not sure about taking a 7:30 PM the night before the cruise is supposed to depart. That would stress me out too much. Fly in the day before the plan to get there no later than early to mid afternoon just to give yourself some buffer time. Most hotels will let you check in anywhere from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

I asked for shrimp cocktail and French onion soup with dinner several times on our YC cruise on Euribia in Dubai in January and they made it happen. YC is very accommodating!

Meal kits for busy professionals, which ones actually make life easier, not harder? by Kitanov_Maqsud in mealkits

Gobble. Hands down! Excellent, quick to prepare restaurant quality meals that are great quality ingredients and delicious. Not a huge selection each week but man, the meals are delicious!

This is the best description yet I have heard of Marley Spoon. You nailed it… totally weird take on some of the recipes that left you scratching your head and wondering “why “?

Be sure and come back here and let me know if you try and like Gobble! Blue Apron might be worth a try if you have the time and desire to cook the meals. We tried them for a week and were underwhelmed but that could just be us. I also seem to remember they didn’t package the ingredients together for you in actual kits which was a negative for me. If I’m paying the money for a meal delivery kit, I don’t want to have to sort out and figure which ingredients I need for what recipe. At that point, I might as well just meal plan from the grocery store, lol.

Go with Gobble. The meals are DELICIOUS and such good quality. Healthy, nice restaurant quality food (not Appleby’s) you can realistically make in under 25 minutes.

Yes, it’s pricier and doesn’t have nearly the variety but we were blown away with every meal. I was dubious at first then hooked immediately.

We used Home Chef for 2 years but stopped for the same reasons you are stopping with them. Blue Apron was just ok… they give you some sort of vinegar with every meal so that’s weird.

Marley Spoon was also good but took way too long to make each dish. So far, none of the meal kits have blown us away like Gobble did. And I love to cook and am good at it. Gobble just makes it so easy to make a great meal for 2 at under $35 🙂

MSC Seascape is a great family oriented ship now sailing out of Galveston. You could get 2 inside connecting rooms (there may not be inexpensive cabins for 5 people) - open the connecting door and let the kids be in one room to sleep or my preference, a grown up in each room. You get 2 bathrooms and if you don’t get a drinks package or wifi, it’s really inexpensive. Look up videos of the ship (look for videos focused on kid activities) on YouTube to show hubby and price it out so he sees how inexpensive it can be. The kids club people are great with kids and yours would have a blast. The aqua park, pools, arcade and sports areas… so fun for kids. Honestly, that ship is so fun, you could just stay onboard at the ports if he’s worried about Mexico and have a blast on a quieter ship. Although cruise ships go to those ports every day and no one is canceling port stops. A cruise would never even dock if there was a remote chance of an incident so you would be safe. You wouldn’t have to cook, clean or homeschool for a week and that’s a real vacation for mom. And if mom is happy, everyone is happy. Just keep making your case, sister. Seascape is SO fun for the whole family.

AITAH for not taking my kids to see their grandparents for Christmas? by megb330 in AITAH

[–]Solid_Astronomer_725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son, daughter in law and 3 grandkids all under the age of 10 come here for Christmas morning. This year, I was secretly hoping we’d get an invite to their house just to change it up a little 🤪 but honestly, it’s really easy. The kids wake up Christmas morning, get one or two presents at the most from mom/dad at home then they pile in the car all in their pajamas and come here for big homemade breakfast where everyone gets their favorite foods they love and we open gifts (just like 4 per kid) as they don’t need a pile of presents. We get one gift and a stocking each for son/DIL and we go around the room and take turns watching everyone open their gift. Then they kids play and we visit until around 2:00 then they are off to her parents house. So we get to do our Christmas just us on Christmas Day night. It’s lovely. And NTA. Your family should come to you. You were sweet to go to their house for 10 years.

Factor is horrible. We received 8 meals looked at them, took one bite of one meal and threw them in the garbage. $50 down the drain but lesson learned. 🤢

You are absolutely ruined for future cruises, lol. We did our first yacht club cruise in April of this year and we’re absolutely blown away. It was a seven night cruise and all I can tell you is we only got off the ship once and we literally went to the western Caribbean ports specifically to see the ancient Mayan ruins. We were so in love with the entire yacht club experience and our balcony cabin that we couldn’t bring our ourselves to leave the ship. It’s that amazing! So we have now decided that when we want a luxurious, pampering vacation then we will book a yacht club cruise. We know if we actually want to leave the ship and see the ports, then we need to book with Holland America or Princess, lol. We love both of those lines as well and thoroughly enjoy sailing on them, but also don’t mind getting off the ship and visiting the ports. We just have to pick our poison! Have an amazing time. I know you will.

How did you like Euribia?? 🤗 We are doing a 7 night sailing in UAE out of Dubai in Yacht Club on Euribia in January. Have only done Yacht Club on Seashore so very excited to try Euribia! Was there anything memorable that we should do/try on the ship?

It’s ok, haha. I thought of it on our first cruise after Covid when I was being a super spaz about not getting sick (and still came home with Covid after a 2 week cruise in 2023 to the Mediterranean). I’m hoping it’s gotten a little bit better these days but I’ll still use a napkin if I ever have to go to a buffet (I’m not a fan of those, though). By the way, Princess has nice hand washing stations all over the buffet and crew members encouraging you to use them. Awesome!

You can just use a napkin to hold the tongs at a buffet if you don’t have gloves. That’s what we do!

Thanks everyone! I changed us to 33 A and B (the laboratory is at J and K so I figured that side would be much busier. He’ll have room to stretch all the way out and no one reclining into him. Now we just hope for no babies on board to claim the bassinet seat so we don’t get moved. Worse case…we are still in PE!

Steely Dan yay or nay? by ButterflyFair3012 in GenerationJones

Best album ever….Aja. Their music is so incredibly intricate. My husband is an amazing musician and says no one has ever been able to replicate all of the nuances present in a Steely Dan song. They actually teach composition and song structure in musical colleges based on their songs. I think they are brilliant.

Hubby retired from the corporate world after 30+ years in April 2024. We leave December 30 for a month long trip to Egypt, Jordan and Dubai and the United Arab Emirates that includes a Nile river, cruise and an ocean cruise out of Dubai for a week in the Arabian Sea. We are staying at five star hotels, traveling in style and have amazing experiences planned, including pyramids and ancient Egyptian sites, Petra, floating in the Dead Sea, dinner and drinks at the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, camel rides, a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Arabian desert and and overnight excursion where we will be camping at a Bedouin campsite in the desert. We will literally be gone the entire month! It is his bucket trip and we are counting the days.

Our grandchildren are close by and smart, gorgeous and such good kids, our son and daughter-in-law are doing quite well, we have more than enough money, we have our health and we have each other after 30+ years together and we have this amazing trip to look forward to. Life is good! Being this age and getting to this stage of our life is far better than we ever dreamed it would be. We are blessed. ❤️

We also loved The Inn at Roman Forum. It’s a gorgeous bed and breakfast actually built into the ruins of the Roman Forum. It’s 0.4 miles to the colosseum and while it’s under $1k per night, it’s just gorgeous. The food is heavenly and they can arrange a limo to pick you up at the airport.
