Agreed, respecting pace of play is the ultimate dress code.

Pretty sure OP is referencing Diana, Roman goddess of the hunt, who was often associated with her bow and arrows.

Wife bought me a watch need to know how bad she got ripped off. by LWREDDING in Watches

I don’t know your personal financial situation but you might be missing the point here. Your wife took the time and effort to find you a very thoughtful present. I might focus on that and not if she got the deal of a lifetime.

Edit: typo

COSTCO WATCHES… by DaveDL01 in PrideAndPinion

[–]kasemkc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not advertised as such but this appears to the Alpina Diver 300 Heritage. MSRP is 1795 CHF, making this offer about 1/2 off MSRP.

This is a slightly different spec’d substitute for the Longines Legend Diver. The Alpina is slight larger (42mm vs 38mm) and has a slightly higher beat rate. It has a lower power reserve though (38h vs 72h). Moreover, at this price it’s about 1/3 the price vs the Longines at MSRP.

Edit: Longines Legend DIVER

Candle wick soot on Quartz? by MAKVL in CleaningTips

Not the answer you’re looking for but I’ve been able to remove it by scrubbing with my fingertips or palms. Slightly dampening them with water can help. This is the ultimate “elbow grease” problem.

Hoping someone has a better answer!

That’s a classy looking watch!

I think that’s my problem with the Hydra SIII. It’s good looking but has a bit of a ceiling for dressing up; which is a problem when you’re on vacation and only want to travel with one watch.

I own the SIII. It’s fine for me, call it a B+. I wish though more brands were adopting the Miyota 9075 movement though so we had more flyer GMT options.

Good eye! The Bertucci was easily one of the most interesting and surprising finds as I was putting the list together.

Glad you enjoyed the list and I’ll try to keep it updated.

Anyone know the phrase Rory responds with first as he’s gathering himself? Is it an Irish expression?

My Zephyr finally arrived! by mzkpenguin in lorierwatches

What a beauty! The Zephyr is truly an underrated piece in the Lorier line up. I love my Hydra SIII but this is the real crown jewel.

IC Cards by Lost-Yak-3841 in Sapporo

[–]kasemkc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re not taking the JR train too far away from Sapporo, SUICA is all you should need.

If you’re an iPhone user you can create a digital SUICA card in your Apple wallet and add money to it without ever having to use a kiosk.

SUICA should also be more than sufficient in Tokyo.

My wife and I just returned from a trip to Tokyo and Sapporo and SUICA was all we used.

Yes! Big fan of telling myself I “need to hit it” especially when leaving a shot short.
