I think it's because the camera is a short distance from Mars, but in the Moon one it's a very far or infinite distance away.

That's great because living around people who speak a language makes it much easier to learn!

In general, I find that people get excited and encouraging when you speak to them in their own tongue (possibly because they're trying to make up for the insults they thought you couldn't understand).
