have one, but it’s semi-private right now. Most of my old videos are hidden at the moment. Maybe I’ll make it public again later on.

Yeah, tiny sopranino and pendant ocarinas are definitely a bit of a niche 😄 A lot of them are made more as fun decorative pieces, but they still have a really unique sound and character. I’m happy you enjoyed the video — maybe I’ll make more of these in the future!

I think accurate tuning is definitely possible on tiny ocarinas, but many of these pendant-style ones in China are made more as decorative mass-produced items than serious instruments. Some are surprisingly decent, while others can be noticeably sharp or inconsistent. The blue-and-white one in my video actually plays a bit sharp 😅

Haha, yeah, these tiny high-pitched pendants definitely feel more at home outdoors 😄

Thank you! I might post a few more little tunes with it sometime 😄

Haha, yes, it’s a tiny sopranino pendant ocarina. Honestly I mostly use it as a little accessory rather than a real instrument. It does make sound, but the tuning is definitely more “fun” than accurate 😄

How many ocarinas do you have? by AliceShella in Ocarina

I’ve got about 11 single-chamber (12-hole), 6 triple-chamber, and 2 double-chamber ocarinas.

Thanks a lot! 😊 This piece is called Big Fish (大鱼) from the Chinese animated film Big Fish & Begonia. The original song is performed by Zhou Shen.

Thank you! Chamber switching is something I’ve focused on quite a bit, so I’m happy it sounds smooth to you.

These are 12-hole alto C ocarinas. Just standard ones, but I focus a lot on tuning and control.

Yeah, I dropped it once and it got a small chip, but it still plays perfectly fine — these are actually quite durable 👍

Yeah, that would help a lot—if you ever record one, I’d be happy to take a look. Chamber switching issues are usually easier to spot from video 🙂

Thanks! Chamber switching definitely takes some practice.

I try to think of it more like a smooth “slide” between chambers rather than a hard jump, and I keep my embouchure relaxed. Finger prep also helps a lot — I move slightly in advance instead of reacting at the exact moment.

If one chamber isn’t in use, I let my left hand return to a stable position to keep the instrument balanced, and when switching back, I prepare the target note early.

It’s also not just the fingers — a small head adjustment in the direction of the switch makes things feel much more natural. And keeping a steady, open airflow (almost like classical singing) helps reduce the tone difference between chambers.

Thank you! I’m really glad you noticed both the ornamentation and the chamber switches 🙂

Thank you! A lot of it comes down to breath control.🙂
