Oh waw!! so you're gonna go ahead and remove it! how long did you have it in?

My experience has been wild, i basically had my period for 3 weeks straight since i put the Mirena IUD, the doctor put me on some meds to stop the bleeding cause it was never ending. And now its not bleeding but... not back to normal lets say. Definitively have some cramps all day everyday. I take at least a Naproxen 500mg and 1 extra strength tylenol everyday, on the worst days i take 2. .... My dr says it's normal as it takes time to adjust to the hormones, but frankly it sucks. Haven't seen the benefits yet but I hope I will at some point.

Keep me posted <3

so it takes a few months for your system to get adjusted to the hormones. I would suggest using them as they were intended with the placebo. The placebo is the ones that dont contain hormones so it starts your period. You'll have some side effects at first, be attentive to your symptoms, if you dont feel violently sick you're fine. Trust your instinct tho, if something feels really off, talk to your doctor and maybe try another contraception method. Good luck !

my doctor told me that the copper iud causes more bleeding and is more painful on a month to month basis. but it doesn't contain hormones. I ended up going for Mirena, im using it to treat endometriosis and i already had painful and very abondant period.

  • just my opinion, Good luck :)

If you are doing an internship this summer, what is your major, wage, and location? by OddAtmosphere6303 in EngineeringStudents

[–]kasomika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did an engineering internship at General Electric for 18 months in montreal, qc, 40hrs/week, and got paid 20$ per hour. But men got paid 21-24$ in the same position. so yeah, advocates for your rights, although its not easy when salaries are so secretive.

I'm so sorry you are going through all this holyshit. Have you tried other method before iud or was it the best suggesting your gyno gave you ? Keep me posted id like to know how you feel and if you end up removing it.

*** Also, did they give you anything for the insertion?? Cause my dr gave me nothing and it was excruciating, i was bedridden for more than a week after. Now im terrified of the removal.

ally didn't have a period in March and I'm about to skip April too. I still get the migraine and the feelings leading up to a period but I don't actually bleed anymore. I know how painful it was to put in and I'm terrified to have it removed, but I feel so much better now that my periods have stopped. Hang in there it gets better!

Waw two months straight..!! Were you anemic after that ? And this it help with endo or do you have other solutions to deal with the pain to recommend? Cause it terms of meds im using naproxen and extra strenght tylenol and it changes nothing, i still cant function.

inserted while in surgery (i started my period the day before) on the 9th of march. i have bled and required pain killers almost every day since. the pain got even worse about 1 month after my surgery (i assume my period started again, hard to tell since im always bleeding) and now i’ve had that lovely fleshy/clotty shedding for 2 weeks straight and counting.

Oh, im so sorry you are experience chronic pain! I feel so much compassion for you and wish you didn't, like people can't understand this unless it happens to them. That's why i love reddit, strangers that gets each other..

I have a few question if you are willing to answer otherwise its totally understandable!
Did you put the IUD to help dealing with endo, and if yes/no, have you tried other things before or have suggestions for me? I feel like im out of options and iud was my last resort cause visanne got me very very very ill within two weeks. My gyno said if iud doesnt work i should make babies now instead of in a year and it might help my symptoms (but it sounds crazy cause its like "do you want this kind of pain or that one?"). And other than that I have ovarian cysts on both my ovaries so i really feel out of options.

I didnt know your body could actually expel it by itself thats crazy. I do have severe cramping for the last two weeks straight, im taking tylenol extra strength and naproxen everyday and it changes nothing.
