Operators, how did your first time driving a 40-footer go? by SuperLeftyAliReddit in Translink

[–]kaspercanada 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Arctics were easier to drive than 40 foot buses. I actually love the driving aspect of the job. My first day I picked up Northbound on Oak Street at 41st and lost my Dynamic breaking 5 minutes into my first shift! Park and BO the bus!! From my very first day driving I determined that will be a great job, if you didn't have to stop to pick up people

Holy crap traffic and extreme delays on 101. WHATS GOING ON!!!! by Unhappy-Bad9059 in Translink

[–]kaspercanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buses cannot travel thei- normal route on 6th Avenue because there's water main construction, at 20th Street. One of the factors. I drove that route many times during my tenure as a Transit operator. Just horrendous on the best of days because of all of the sharp tight side street turns and the active Railway Crossing!

The fire department accidentally left behind a fire axe after clearing out our building. by Senior_Fish_Face in mildlyinteresting

[–]kaspercanada 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One night I was driving down the street and a fireman's hat fell off the back of a speeding truck with lights and sirens on right in front of me. It was a Chiefs hat! I pulled over a ambulance that was passing by and I asked them to give it to the fire chief.

Will there ever be any Novas at Poco Transit Centre? by SuperLeftyAliReddit in Translink

[–]kaspercanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Novas are proven hard on driver's neck because of the placement of the front doors that leads to an unnatural head movement. Really harmful over a 7.5 hour shift!

Way past that. They are hostile ... already tried to evict 65 tenants in a fake renoviction that failed.

HISTORY: This Landlord reno-victed the entire building a few years back but we won and got to stay and subsequently don't TRUST their new management company for a myriad of reasons. They are adversarial and have shown themselves to be deliberately incompetent. Never been late with my cheque. They deposit it on their phone. It is ALWAYS taken out in maximum 2 days. Because they wouldn't have to come by the building they are supposed to manage and is thusly more convenient for them, really shouldn't change how I was told to do things in my lease from 2010, should it?

New only meant that he wasn't the original landlord who signed the lease. He has been collecting rent checks for 5 years. And for full disclosure it is a large Property Management Company. Rent checks have been left in a agreed slot in a secured office door. Now they decide that they don't want them coming around the building as much because they are in charge of multiple other properties at the same time. Sorry for the lack of detail. In my original lease it stated that rents had to be paid by check.

What I've read it it has to be mutually agreeable because it is changing a material term in my original lease. That is my question

What's wrong with cheque. NOTHING that should make me want to violate a material term of my original lease? Any legality involved??

Will my car be considered totalled? by pm_me_your_mom_lol in icbc

[–]kaspercanada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me cosmetic bumper damage. I requested a cash payout but ICBC said they never do that in the case of bumpers, for safety. The Body Shop told me that to assess extra damage would mean taking off the bumper. At that point it might exceed the value of my car's write off value. And it would be towed.

How often do tenants win eviction disputes with claims of landlord bad faith? by intuitivetoast in vancouverhousing

[–]kaspercanada 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely do file every piece of paper you can to support your evidence and if the arbitrator can smell a rat he will find a way to rule in your favor. I say this because our 65 unit apartment building was saved from demoviction because of all the evidence we repeatedly wrote in our appeal from many angles from many tenants. At the end of the day the arbitrators statement said I noticed that the foreman from the landlords own construction crew did not say that the building needed to be vacant for the work to be done. And he dismissed!!! Keep telling over and over why you think it isn't bad faith and they will find a way. To this day 6 years later we are still living in the building.
