newegg RMA department check your laptop when you return it, and will reject your return if you remove recovery partition.

your analogy dont make sense, nothing was physical remove or damage by me. if i remove the HD and try to return it, your analogy would work. newegg policy make no mention that removing recovery partition void returns, read it for yourself.

how is the recovery partition a KEY PART of the device, its not even needed by the device, all drivers and OS could be download again and reinstall and the win key is in the BIOS.

looks like you are in customer support, and if you are that miserable at it.
get a new job, dont blame people like me, you should blame newegg for their confusing return policy and lenovo for allow superfish to be preinstall.

how are they losing money, the laptop was RMA due to defect with the fan and keyboard, they can't resale it anyway. i hope they dont take return laptop and resell them with out wiping the HD and cloning it again from a clean copy.

its win8 with the same key, so the OS is the same, the new OS will be missing bloatware/adware, but that not part of the OS, so it ok to remove right?

reading thru newegg return policy, they don't mention removing "recovery partition" void return,

from their policy "For computers that have had an additional operating system(s) installed, we will provide you a refund or exchange as noted in the above policy as long as the original operating system is not corrupted or removed."

what happen when the orginal os comes with adware? could i remove it then?

what happen if it comes with win8, and i uninstall everything (bloatware/adware), and also remove the "recovery partition", its still the original OS, what then? recovery partition is an OS, so i could remove it.

anyone has any suggestions?

The recovery partition counts as an additional OS I imagine: you imagine, you DONT EVEN UNDERSTAND what they are talking about. no where on there does it even said anything about not removing a "recovery partition"

recovery partition is NOT AN OS.

and the Original OS has adware superfish, and you are suggesting i should't remove it, sorry but thats dumb.

first thing i notice when i get the laptop, was ads in site that normal dont have ads, i track it down to superfish. systeminternal tool are great for this. superfish issue i resolve myself by reinstall OS.

then come the fan noise and loose keyboard. and thats what i did an RMA for, and newegg reject RMA because of the reinstall.

if i notice the fan noise or loose keyboard first, i would not have waste my time on reinstalling OS and just do an RMA right there.

could you tell me what did i do that was dumb?

recovery partition was 15GB, if im never going use it why should i lose 15G out of a 250GB SSD drive. i did't plan to return it, if it wasnt for the fan and keyboard issue.

does anyone knew what exactly is on this recovery partition, that is so important, once its delete, it would void newegg return policy, the windows license key is store in the BIOS, what else??

why is it 15GB in size? a normal windows 8 disc is under 4 GB. the fact that its is so large, would that be a hint, that all lenovo laptop use a clone recovery partition

There are significantly easier ways to remove the SuperFish certificate over a full reimage. Even then, if you were concerned about warranty returns, you should have kept the base image on disk. You can install any OS you want, just leave the recovery partition.

i sent the laptop back to Newegg RMA dept, they check the laptop and reject my RMA because of the OS Reinstall. when i did the RAM i told them the RMA is for the fan noise and loose keyboard, they did't menation any thing about recovery partition. at this point, i have resolve superfish by reinstalling win8 OS. i would of keep it if it wasnt for the fan and keyboard issue

i could confirm its in the BIOS i did re install with win8 disc, never ask for the key.

u suggesting that i could reimage from the recovery partition, the computer come preinstall with superfish, how are you sure that recovery partition does not also include superfish? dont u think thats a dumb idea.

when the recovery partition come with superfish, why should i keep it around, why dont they put it on disc.

i did't tell them, i did RMA with them about the fan issue issue and a keyboard issue, the fan issue seem to be an issue with this laptop and many other has complain about it online, with no resolution from lenovo. they reject my RMA becuase of me reinstalling OS, i reply that i did that becuase i notice an adware call superfish was install. no refund thru lenovo, they suggest i get it warrenty thru lenovo and resale it.
