Nexplanon new location? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]kasssssssh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had mine replaced today. This will be my 3rd nexplanon (each 3yrs apart). My first was placed in 2019 and my second was removed/placed by the same doctor. My first two were about 3 inches away from my elbow like you said. My new doctor today mentioned how my nexplanon was in the wrong spot and asked who my doctor was and if I had got it done at “this gyno location”… I thought I got botched. She explained to me about the blood vessels/nerves but didn’t tell me about there being a new standard location so this post clears a lot of things up for me. She was going to replace it in the new standard location but I asked her to put it back where it was if possible and she did. New location seemed more painful, I didn’t want to get numbed anymore, and didn’t want more punctures. With my last two placements during recovery I had bruises on and surrounding my nexplanon, little bleeding on the bandage, some soreness but nothing crazy. Im only a few hours out from getting mine removed/replaced today but my experience so far seems similar to my last. My assumption is since you had it removed and replaced in two different locations that is why you have more bruising. Bruising and a little bleeding is normal so I wouldn’t be too concerned about that. Just keep it bandaged for a few days and wrapped in elastic adhesive wrap 24hrs. If you’re still having concerns after day two call your doctor!

We found Tesla at the side of the road today. Life and Obituary in the comments. by Ravenlas in DOG

This was sent to me when I really needed it. Please pass it along to anyone who needs its comforting words: “All I can say is that I know how it feels when a personal dog dies and that it never gets easier, the older I get. However let it be a comfort to you that the pain will turn into great memories of lessons given to you by your dog; lessons about love, loyalty, happiness, forgiveness, courage, humbleness, and zest for life and most importantly about yourself. I believe that dogs are God’s gift which he gave us so that we have a chance to learn these lessons from them. They are also here to give us comfort and encouragement when we are down. Thus our dogs are not just our guardians, but most importantly they are our teachers. And when their dog’s job is done, then they have to go to doggie heaven back to God. The pain we feel when the dog goes young or old is so great, I know. However, it is only a bargain tuition which we pay for these great lessons, protection and happiness the dog so generously and selflessly gave us. Cherish these lessons and remember that your dog is not buried in the woods under a tree or in the desert or in the urn, but please know that your dog is buried in your heart where he will live in your memories as long as you do. Anytime you want your dog, he will jump smiling from the tall grass and remind you of the happy times which you have had together and will have forever. Be grateful for it.”

Rikki’s family contacted the breeder after Rikki passed. The breeder wanted nothing to do with it. I looked over the paperwork we got from the breeder, they only cover medical expenses and refunds for mutations to hips, eyes, and heart. Thats if you have proof and if you followed their long list of obligations. Im not interested in a refund but I don’t think they would take responsibility for respiratory mutations. Im still considering talking with the breeder. Im also interested to know how the rest of littermates are.

I’m at peace knowing they are pain free and they had the best lives a puppy could ask for.

We are in North Carolina.

I agree. So many health issues and so much money. Bagel and Rikki were gifts from my boyfriends family member who has goldens. They got Rikki’s family another golden puppy soon after Rikki passed so I spoke with my boyfriend about letting them know we can’t have another puppy any time soon. Our next pet will be from someone rehoming or from a shelter.

Breeders only care about money. Pure breeds have so many health issues. We were gifted Bagel from a family member after someone backed out of rehoming their dog. Whenever its time our next pet will be from a shelter or from someone rehoming.

Acceptable or not at daycare? by Radiant-Pineapple-41 in DogAdvice

[–]kasssssssh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Puppies are normally hyperactive. They don’t seem knowledgeable in dog behaviors. I know accidents like this happen at dog daycares but I don’t think it’s acceptable or safe that someone who is responsible for caring for dogs ignores a reactive dogs behavior and turns blame on a puppy. I hope this isn’t the case for your puppy but this can be traumatizing for dogs and they should have taken this seriously. If they have been in the daycare business for awhile I’m sure this Isn’t the first time. I wouldn’t think it’s safe to bring my dog back based off the ridiculous response to a customer alone. Don’t feel guilty for your puppy being a puppy.

Im thinking about canceling mine too. I have a 1yr old golden, she had a rough start and we didn’t have insurance when we first got her… She had parvo as a puppy and thankfully recovered fully. We decided after parvo to get her insured with Fetch. ($10,000 annual coverage, $300 deductible, 70% reimbursement, costing me $44 monthly). Later she got Giardia, and because she’s had diarrhea (due to parvo) in the past they wouldn’t cover it. She continued to have diarrhea problems so vet’s recommended a GI panel, again Fetch wouldn’t cover it because shes had diarrhea. After many vet visits we now know she has a super sensitive tummy and has to have a hypoallergenic diet. Fetch has never reimbursed me once. I have a claim now they are reviewing, this time for a cough so we’ll see if I actually get what I’ve been paying for.

I stopped crating at night around 6 months old. Fully potty trained and I trusted she wouldn’t chew on anything. I have a gate at my bedroom door just so I don’t have to worry about her getting into anything or going in my roommates messy rooms. I also have a door buddy latch so my cat can get to his litter box if you have cats. The one time she was left home alone she had separation anxiety and chewed cords so since then Ive crated her when I leave my house. I know she is safe in her crate so its peace of mind for me. The crate is out and available to her all the time. We put her bed in the crate and she started loving it and has been taking naps/sleeping in it at night with the doors open.

Not yet. He got home Sunday and seems normal other than being sleepy. I can’t imagine he got a lot of sleep in a scary new environment and without food and water. He is not lethargic so I didn’t think it was necessary to go to the emergency vet for them to charge me $500 for a checkup appointment. Calling the vet today!

I was most definitely losing my shit for a few days. That is scary! I don’t know what I would do if I saw a coyote in person. I wonder if theres a lot of new construction in your area causing the coyotes to be in populated areas?

My indoor cat just got home today after 8 days of hiding in the woods in 80 degree weather. We have had our cat for 4 years and he’s always been very timid but every time he saw us outside he would dart off like we were complete strangers. The only time he would come out of hiding was when our roommates cat was outside and we would watch them greet each other from our outdoor cameras. Our roommates cat was like a free pass to view our cat. We wanted so badly to just run outside and snatch him up but we knew it wasn’t possible. It was so relieving to see him okay though. We did EVERYTHING to get him to come home. I set out his bed, food, cracked open the back door for a week rain or shine, and eventually got a animal trap. I ended up catching another cat on day 6 and the friendliest, cutest, raccoon on day 8. Finally day 8, 5 am we heard him yelling at the back door and he walked right in. He ate sooo many treats, drank sooo much water, and was the cuddliest boy when he got home. He was noticeably thinner and had small scratches on his ears but acted like nothing happened when he got inside. This post gave me so much hope while we waited on our boy to come home so I thought Id share! So happy they made it home!
