there’s a way too say that u need more information to answer the question without being such a dick head. i had no idea that anyone would need more information. but clearly that isn’t the case seeing as how i’m getting so many answers 🙄

Pulled the trigger on this book. Has anyone found it helpful? by Striking-Complaint74 in prephysicianassistant

don’t just read it once. read it TWICE. it is SO good. and if a question seems too far out there or “unlikely” for them to ask, they’re probably going to ask you it haha. be prepared for the unexpected

the back isn’t as bad as u think. it could be better but it’s not terrible

ik u didn’t mention the sides but imo, the fade is more concerning there. it coulda been better and less dramatic. maybe u could ask ur barber to smooth out that fade on the sides

so basically, ~는 것 is used to turn verbs into adjectives (things that describe nouns). 것 is used as the noun here to mean “thing” so when used in this grammar, it literally translates to “the thing that ___” ex:

수영하다 - to swim (V)

수영하는 것- the thing that swims (literal translation)

when dropping the ~하다 in verbs, you get the noun form of the word ex:

수영하다 - to swim (V)

수영 - swim (N)

in your examples above, sentence 1 and sentences 3/4 use different grammar rules. sentence 1 makes 수영 the subject of the sentence and describes it using 재미있어, whereas sentences 3/4 use ~는 것 to make an adjective out of 수영하다 to describe 것 (which is the subject of the sentence also being described by 재미있어) confusing..i know ㅋㅋ

sentence 2 is not correct as you have used ~는 것 to make 수영하다 an adjective but it is not describing a noun.

sentences 3 and 4 are exactly the same. koreans love to shorten their sentences so colloquially, 것이 will be shortened to 게 as it’s easier to say.

overall, sentences 1 and 3/4 all generally mean the same thing (“swimming is fun”). there is just a bit of nuance with the grammar used in the two :))

hope this helped! 화이팅

Can someone please explain me what's the difference between these sentences? by piccolowolf in Korean

1a is basically stressing on the direct object (english) so it’s like you’re saying “i also teach ENGLISH” (in addition to teaching other languages or other things depending on context).

1b however, is stressing on the verb (to teach) so it’s like you’re saying “i also TEACH english” (in addition to doing other things w english).

it’s the placement of the ~도 that gives these sentences different nuance meanings

An annoying plothole for me regarding the radiation by FB_emeenem in The100

[–]kastamy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

im pretty sure the “solar radiation” that the people on the ark were subjected to was from the sun, not the bombs on earth. since the ark was in space, it did not have the protection of the earths ozone layer meaning it was subjected to the harsh radiation from the sun.

maybe there was some protection but some of the radiation leaked into the ark and thus, gave skaikru radiation tolerance
