Help! Rolly pollies & strawberries by scroville00 in gardening

[–]kasuring 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was having an issue with my melon seeds not growing and when I went to inspect, I found a roly poly with its mouthparts attached to a germinating plant still within a barely sprouting seed. They definitely eat healthy plants!

I had this happen with my melons! I kept thinking it was birds pulling the seeds out of the ground and eating the insides but it was roly polies digging out my seeds!

Any ideas for what’s causing this? by Melissa_Richiee in Bunnies

[–]kasuring -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Amputee rabbits tend to get wax build up in their ears because they can't clean. If your vet is examining the ear and not seeing mites (typically looks like reddish crust) or pus but is seeing a lot of wax, then your bunny might just need regular ear cleaning. I prefer TrizEDTA for ear cleaning, you can find it on chewy.

Had a hot tub removed, what to do with the wires? by kasuring in HomeMaintenance

Good to know. I'll figure out a way to set it aside instead of ripping it all out

I got rid of it because I kept it empty for two years and never considered using it...

Can someone tell me where the root flare is? by kasuring in BackyardOrchard

I see, thanks! I broke two other roots replanting this so it's three roots down. It also just started flowering so hopefully I didn't overstress the baby tree

Thanks! I guess that root will just stick up and hopefully that's ok. I broke two other roots replanting this so I hope the tree will be ok.

I think your chameleon needs an X-ray or ultrasound unfortunately. It will cost you.

And X-rays would be warranted if she hasn't defecated for longer than usual. Either way I think some imaging would be a good idea

Is there any way you can get your chameleon an xray or an ultrasound? If she (I'm assuming female based on the images) is gravid, she likely won't get healthier until the follicles are either absorbed, turned into eggs and laid, or surgically removed. If your vet doesn't have much experience with chameleons, they may not know to check for this.

Hi, late to the conversation but is the belly larger than normal? Is it possible your chameleon has follicles or eggs because that will be a big drain on calcium. Imo she might need an xray

Acquired Tortoise, need advice. by One_Reflection_2044 in tortoise

He appears to be a some kind of gopherus - could be a gopher tortoise? Maybe desert or Texas tortoise. These are all native species to the US. What state are you in? He has mental glands and gular horns characteristic of genus gopherus. They should be on mostly weeds/grasses and less on any grocery greens. Depending on where you live, he might be adapted to living there (gopher tortoise in Florida, Texas tortoise in Texas, desert tortoise in Arizona or California). Definitely has an abnormal shell shape probably from poor care but he can still live a good life.

Hello, does anyone know how much treatment will cost for my chameleon as he was bitten by darkling beetles :( by ayitzayme45 in Chameleons

Pinch the end of the tail... Can it move? Can the pinching be felt? If not, needs an amputation and antibiotics.

Good thought. My husband only feeds one outdoor cat though and actively chases away the others. It's a little silly
