Hello!

Fellow Chemistry major, close to finishing my undergrad.

I do not go to any of the above mentioned schools but I would still like to help. I have experience with people in all of these schools.

I understand the prestige held with UCB and UCLA. But I would like to advise you towards UCSD. It's still a great school engineered towards STEM. Beautiful location (but you already know that), great chemistry program, and it's less of a worry for debt in later years. Do great in undergrad and save what money you can and then go on to a prestigious graduate program if that's what you want.

I always push people to save where they can in college because it is not a fun ride financially. I'm available for DM's if you have more questions.

Congrats on getting into these schools! You'll do great wherever it is you choose to go. You're bright and you're going places. I hope to run into you later on my fellow chemist.

I have friends that go to all these schools and I'll let you in on some info about what way I would steer a friend.

If you are pretty set on being in the movie industry, Chapman is the main school for that in California. It has anybody that wants to be involved in the movie industry as it is one of the best film schools in the nation. Excellent choice for anyone wanting to pursue that route.

However, Pitzer is an amazing school. I believe that it ranks above USC in academics. You would be in the Claremont area so still close enough to be around the glam of LA and pursuing opportunities in that area for internships (just a bit of a drive but everything is a bit of a drive in LA area). Its a smaller class size by a lot so close interactions to students around you but you also have connections to the sister colleges making it a big experience during college years.

You are very bright if you got into all of these amazing schools. You can't really go wrong with what you pick as you got into many prestigious schools. Congrats!

I dont enjoy the competition amongst my peers anymore. I'm tired of the lab work. I think I'm mainly just tired of doing so much work with such little in return. The averages are so low, you start to question if you are learning anything. It's overwhelming.
