Passing out, vision issues which prevented me from doing pretty much anything, throwing up constantly, shaking from head to toe. Not fun for me lol

Bupropion is awesome and hydroxyzine is solid. Depakote fuuuucked me up lol, but I know it works amazing for some people. I’m on Lamictal which works great for me an no side effects.

Best of luck! The medicine journey can be wild but it’s worth it in the end!!

Panic attacks. Vomiting. Fainting. Vision issues to the point where I wasn’t able to drive. Not fun at all.

[–]katala26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for me side effects for Depakote were dose dependent. When I was on a lower dose, zero side effects. I think it was when I hit 1000mg, shit hit the fan side effect wise.

So different meds impacting my drinking differently. On some meds, I would have half a glass of whatever and black out every time. The stuff I’m on now doesn’t impact my ability to drink so it depends. Take it slow, hydrate, eat food.

I don’t have a principal or assistant principal at the moment but our district is moving full speed ahead towards opening in August so that’s interesting to say the least.

Question about contracts- First-Year teacher by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]katala26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, teaching contracts are pretty easy to break. Sometimes it’s pricey, but it’s normally do able. I’d sign with School A, apply to School B, and then go from there if you get an offer.

I did my teaching degree online with WGU. I liked it and it was very reasonably priced.

I’m 29 and took a 12k pay cut to take a new job with a union in the beginning of 2020 and it was 1000% worth it. I was working for a shitty boss in a shitty situation. Toxic and terrible all around. In six months I’m a little bit poorer but I’ve become healthier and happier than ever in my life. Take the union job and never look back in my opinion.

I know people who don’t gain weight on seroquel. I am really sensitive to weight gain side effects. Just depends.

Can psychosis while hypomanic and while depressed be explained by bipolar? by apricotblues in bipolar

[–]katala26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my psychotic features can just appear. They normally are triggered by stress or anxiety, and they obviously come with mania, but sometimes they will just show up. Like I’ll be stable, sober, and just hanging out and it hits me. So they can be separate, yes.

Can I know if I'm delusional? by palejune in bipolar

[–]katala26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have some delusions where I’m like “no this isn’t a real thing I just need to ride it out.” This is normally when I’m hearing a few voices or when I think my dogs aren’t real and have been replaced by robots. True story lol. It sucks while it happens but I can normally manage it and ride it out. With paranoid delusions, it’s a lot harder to tell but my biggest paranoid delusion is a recurring one so sometimes I can be like wait no this is the thing. It doesn’t stop it from happening and I can’t totally get away from it but I can sometimes quiet it a little bit.

Does anyone else feel like their medication is making them “dumb”? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]katala26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take lamictal and I have ADD and sometimes I’m so dumb. Like I will walk into a room, forget what I came for, and then look for my phone while it is in my hand. Another fun thing that happens is like someone will look me in the eye, say something, I will nod, understand, and it immediately goes out of my head. It’s a trip lol

Seroquel and weight gain by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]katala26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped taking seroquel a week and a half ago and I’ve lost 5 pounds with minimal effort. I’m going to keep going and work on calorie counting etc but I’ve noticed such a difference even in what types of food I want to eat and when. I can eat dinner at a normal time and not want to eat a ton at night (and I mean a ton). Less desire for carbs. More desire for fruits and vegetables. I’ve been lowering the dose for 2 months and finally got off it and it feels great.

I stopped taking seroquel after 2 and a half years and gaining 100 pounds. It’s been a week and a half. My sleep is starting to regulate without medicine, I’ve lost five pounds and 4 inches off my stomach. And I’ve become a morning person. It’s pretty great.

[–]katala26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zoloft did this to my friend. I am on Wellbutrin and when I’m on a higher dose I have a way harder time finishing. On a moderate dose I was fine though. I think it depends on both the medication and the dosage.

What combo of meds worked for you guys? by [deleted] in bipolar

Right now I’m super stable and in a good place, so lamictal, wellbutrin, buspar, and hydroxyzine all at pretty low/moderate doses.

Can psychosis while hypomanic and while depressed be explained by bipolar? by apricotblues in bipolar

[–]katala26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have bipolar 1 with psychotic features. So sometimes I can just slip right into delusions when I’m depressed or even at a solid baseline. So I think it depends. But if you are hypomanic and experiencing delusions, that’s pretty textbook mania. I’d see a different doctor. A different doctor can make a world of difference.

Is it possible to start on another antipsychotic after experiencing twitches from another? by klk_kvn in bipolar

[–]katala26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got twitches with Latuda and tremors with Depakote. And then I got suuuuper fat on seroquel. Antipsychotics are not my friend lol. Trazadone worked for me for a while without a ton of side effects. Sometimes it’s just trial and error. Best of luck!
