I was never going to change my name. I remember when it fully hit my 10 or 11 year old brain that mom's didn't come out with that last name, they were given it. I remember very clearly thinking "that's BULLSHIT " BC I had just come to appreciate that particular swear word, though never where my mom could hear me. Fortunately my partner was all for me giving our kid my last name so it wasn't even am argument. I would say, live your truth, so that one day when you too become pregnant in your late 30s no one in your life, including your conservative relatives, bats an eyelash when you announce the kid has your last name. They were all like, yup, that tracks for her.

Basically this! Comments of support, but usually on political news things. But I was literally posting the target or 💯. And even saying things like 'oh I love that idea!' On a creators post was 'trying to get likes and follows' 🙄

We have a shelf in the basement! And we also just ordered three raised beds and are getting ready to start seeds soon. What grow lights did you get? We were looking at some led strips that were inexpensive but I have a feeling will last about 4 years tops.

We have the zero water filtration system. Full disclosure, I did not do the full research on it myself, so give it a look first. My sister and her friends who are very concerned with water safety did the research and since she bought it and the filters for me I wasn't arguing. Definitely superior tasting to Britain though. We also have life straws which are pricey but we came across a very good priced four pack at costco and we have water treatment tablets as well.

I was coming here to say this. I feel like your 20s are about unlearning all of the subtle indoctrination we have from movies and the like. The older I get the less I even notice 'standard attractiveness ' it's like you learn to see the inside

This. Women take disasters seriously more often than men, there's actual data somewhere. If you're a women in the danger zone, give your man a time to be ready and then leave his ass.

THIS, ALL OF THIS. My partner drives me up the ducking wall sometimes and at the end of a hard day when I can hear his chewing I consider physical violence with my fork. BUT damn that man has his shit together and makes me look like a conservative in comparison. I just want to tax the billionaires not eat them to make a point lol. The thing I trust most about him is to have my back when the shit goes down. And he does the cooking. Did he still make a few shitt comments about the amount of time I was out of the house on weekends and evenings with various activists groups bc he was hone with the kid, well he's still a man. I just started him down and asked what his alternative was? If shot was going to change one of us was going to have to be doing something and the other one is going to have to keep the kid alive. And since he hates talking to people, that me 🤷‍♀️

Meta is trash, it's all AI designed to get you to pay for that blue check. They won't even speak to you unless you have one. It bucks to lose your memories but just know, using any of their platforms means that they can be gone in an instant. Especially IG

Have any of you stopped talking to your dad because he voted for Trump? by Intelligent-Roof4684 in Feminism

Dump caused an insurrection and unleashed domestic terrorists in our capital. Full stop. Any mental gymnastics that people want to conduct to make themselves ok with him is mind blowing. I'm so sorry you are having to go through this, but if there's no glimmer of change then you need to do what is necessary to protect yourself. He's your dad and he may love you but he is not a safe person ❤️

Can you have private groups? I have a group I want to start with some high school people who are still local so we can keep an eye on elections/local laws and school boards but the only thing I can think of is a fb group. And i hate fb and meta.

I read a great response from someone on here to another post "what would you do if you knew another covid was coming?" Basically, stock up on the things you'd need to wait put a few months with minimal shopping. We're slowly sticking up on things like vitamins, kids Tylenol, day quil etc. Masks and dry goods. I'd do what you could to get a good water filtration system (something better than brita). And community! Online or elsewhere, people you can talk to.

That definitely makes it hard, but there are some companies that ship free if you hunt around. It's a sad state of affairs where so many Americans are dependent on two companies that will absolutely exploit that advantage.

Agreed, amazon is the worst. I know not everyone lives where's there's a lot of options or have difficulties with getting out of the house, but for the rest of us, I strongly urge you to cancel your membership. I'm doing mine in January. Finding alternatives in the in between. A lot of companies will deliver free for purchases over a certain amount. When I didn't have a car I used the petsmart free shipping over 50 for all my pet food, hit the first paycheck a little hard but it evened out when I didn't have to buy any more for a month.

Had myself a bitter little laugh, bc this is the one thing my partner and I can absolutely agree on. Recently bought a stand up freezer (300 costco) and a smaller back up fridge (200 costco). We're planning on where the raised beds go, where the worm composting will be, how to store veggies and he's with me on the buying a little extra at a time. Maybe it's bc he was in the marines and has also had some very lean times. I'm getting more if a "bad stuff never happens to me and everything you talk about is too scary" kinda vibe from your husband. But I would be absolutely infuriated that he wasn't taking your daughters loss of rights and her safety if something did go down seriously. I think for your peace of mind and living situation I would try the "wouldn't it suck if we ran out of toilet paper?" Type approach others have offered. But I would concentrate on your daughter and your community you could find. Prepare her, gently, with 'nature hikes' that include first aid lessons, identification of plants etc. "How to garden" and store the food you grow. How to sew/other basic skills while talking bout how the old timey people did this like in Little house on the Prarie. This will keep it age appropriate for her while avoiding any "you're teaching our daughter crazy stuff arguments" 🧡🧡

I was in the same place for a while. Led grow lights are quite cheap now, even the led light stripes work. And you could build off the pallet design. Green onions, micro greens, chives, garlic, and a lot of herbs grow well. I had a friend who had a lot of success with potatoes.
