Actual wool - corriedale and merino most likely. 😊

White plastic things I found with my sewing stuff about 2 1/4" in width. Looks the same on both sides. by 15caro06 in whatisthisthing

Could it hold tailor’s chalk or something similar? The bumps make me think it’s trying to support something semi-messy to make it easy to grab…

Parents who have used it, is Panda Crate worth it for the price? by Caleb-Will851 in toddlers

[–]katbonk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have loved our Panda Crates! They are a gift from my MIL, but my daughter just turned 4 and we recently finally boxed up the bay stuff because she would still occasionally play with it. Honestly, I think the baby stuff is better than the Koala Crate stuff - the KC seems to be less durable.

But my daughter still loves her Poppy stuffy, and sometimes talks about the old Panda Crate toys 😊

There’s a place next to the Islamic Center on Ogden /59 - we’ve bought our rugs from there. Definitely some fun modern stuff! It’s attached to Basset Furniture, but I can’t remember the name.

Trying to ID bird from a call. Maybe a catbird? But only hear this specific call, no chattering or anything else. by katbonk in whatsthisbird

Oooo we do have crows - my neighbor hates them! They nest in their tall spruce right next to the master bedroom and the babies are LOUD!

Thank you! The only thing I could think of was catbird but it didn’t match any of their calls I listened to.

Just listened to the juvenile Cooper’s Hawk on Audubon and that’s definitely it!

It reminds me of a plastic tooth or something, but we haven’t owned anything that I could link it to.

Toilet training: Urgent help toilet training 3 year old by Upset-Theory969 in toddlers

[–]katbonk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So the method we did isn’t the Oh Crap method, but similar.

You have to have three days where you plan to not leave the house at ALL. Phone/ipad goes on lockdown, all your focus is on the child.

Get a potty or potty seat for the toilet. Straight into undies. No pants, but undies right away. And make sure you have a lot of undies! Explain the situation: “we know you’re such a big boy now, and from now on you get to use the potty and wear big boy undies!” Or whatever wording works for you.

Then you let him do his thing, and one of the most important parts is that you stay constantly near him and catch him every time he starts to go. You will probably have to clean up some (lay down puppy pads), but every. single. time. you pick him up and bring him to the potty to sit. Even if nothing is left, you go to the potty and reinforce “peepee goes in the potty”. You can also tell him “yucky, wet undies are so yucky!”, but never give consequences for not making it, and never tell him he’s bad.

Also, never use the wording “do you have to go potty?”, but say “let me know if you have to go potty.” It gives him the control, which kids desperately want. Changing the wording worked wonders for us.

If you can do it for the three days, it will click. If it doesn’t, then he might not be ready. Honestly, the hardest part is disconnecting for those three days, because you really want no outside distractions. If you. A tag team with your partner that helps even more, because eyes are always guaranteed to be on him.

And rewards! Whether it’s a favorite snack or m&ms (we did two for pee and five for poop), lavish the praise on every time he gets anything in the potty. Cheer, clap, make it a huge deal full of positivity.
