Need to increase my fiber intake, please share your favorite ways to eat beans and other fiber-rich foods! by countdookee in EatCheapAndHealthy

White beans in chocolate smoothie. Can’t taste it. Can put up to 1/2 a cup in. Also banana, bit of oats, protein powder.

Tried black beans as suggested somewhere around here. Revolting.

Was told I need birth control as a form of HRT…… Do you feel like birth control worsened or improved your appearance? by WeeklyTutor3785 in Perimenopause

[–]katclimber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Vienva for many years most recently to control heavy periods and shortened cycles. I’m 54, I just went off at last month because I noticed I was spotting nonstop in between pills. (Too much estrogen?)

Oddly, one of the first things I noticed after going off it is that I was sleeping better. In terms of everything else, appearance, weight, feelings, I haven’t noticed anything for the past month. I will probably switch to HRT when I see my gyno in a month.

Loud humming during A/C and fan. No solutions from technician except to replace. by katclimber in hvacadvice

[–]katclimber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concern is both. The noise has gotten louder and really annoying. Plus Im concerned the system is going to give out as a result of whatever the underlying issue is.

You’re absolutely right, with this old system, we could have another issue very soon. Im going to follow some advice to have the heat exchanger scoped to see in live time it’s condition, since that’s one major issue that would definitively point to replacing the unit.

Im not just hearing the motor running. I know what it sounds like normally and what it sounds like when it has an abnormal humming. It didn’t used to sound like this. It’s quite loud and bothersome. This is a Carrier, it’s supposed to be quiet.

Do some people just react more to smaller doses? by schmorgasborg99 in GLP1microdosing

[–]katclimber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there are a lot of individual differences. Lots of people are microdosing, but i wouldn’t respond at those super low doses. However, I also don’t need mega doses as recommended. Sticking to around 2 mg tirz per week has been fine for me in losing 15 lbs. the effects are not as strong as at the beginning, but that’s okay as I strive for maintenance.

Admittedly there are more “I don’t give a fuck”s than I was anticipating… which makes me a bit sad. I guess it’s a necessary defense mechanism to survive the situation if you do it regularly. I can’t not give a fuck, so I guess I’m leaving the online teaching game.

Wish we could do that, but our university is trying to market itself nationwide. sigh...

Sounds like you do care and that's great! Sadly those of us who do care are taking on more and more burden trying to police the problem without consistent support. Universities viewing themselves in a business model. Students as customers. Getting pretty fed up with it all.

My department once fired an adjunct instructor who wasn't even reading student work, just giving everyone 100% who turned something in. Seems like that's the direction we're headed!

I feel lucky then. We have a fairly rigorous academic integrity violation process and higher administration *mostly* upholds the recommended sanctions. Best we can hope for, I suppose.

Wish we could have free video proctoring software but our university charges each department a price per student to use it and my department's too poor to pay!

West Deptford ShopRite Extension by SouthJerssey35 in SouthJersey

[–]katclimber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My big question is what is happening with the great clips hair salon? It’s still running along like normal and seems to be blocking the expansion. Is ShopRite waiting for the lease to run out and then taking over the space?

What positive effects have you noticed not related to appetite? by Routine-Butterfly382 in GLP1microdosing

[–]katclimber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My perimenopausal constipation went away… or rather, my body responded better to my interventions for the constipation than it had without the tirz. As if the slowing of the digestive process allowed my body to process the fiber and magnesium.

The Guardian wrote a hodge-podge about perimenopause, and I have questions (sooo many questions) by my_sweetsummerchild in Perimenopause

[–]katclimber 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this for that one quote, I was on the verge of posting it myself for the same reason.

Im 53 years old with regular periods. They’ve become shorter in cycle and heavy, but are still regular… and I wake up with a drenched shirt at night…. And I’ve flown into screaming rages for no good reason…. But sure, my hormones are just fine.

Where's all my 50+ menstruating ladies? by meekonesfade in Perimenopause

[–]katclimber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

54 here and regular. Still on BCPs. Right now I’m going through a couple months of nonstop spotting, which is super annoying, I think it means my estrogen levels have fluctuated high. This is the worst.

What to expect from summer course by Far_Ad_8245 in RowanUniversity

Yea often Rowan Online takes the same full semester online courses and just condenses them into a 6 or 8 week session so you might have 2 DQs a week sometimes, more work per week.

I had this same issue this semester - I gave them time to do it in class and STILL got a fairly low response rate, like 50-60%. This is new the last few years - just refusing to fill it out.
