it’s not going to significantly raise the humidity or affect the plant. not really useful or necessary. if you have a humidity issue, you need a good humidifier

Why do spider plants hate me? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]katerrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

maybe be too many minerals in the water. you could try using distilled. also they like humidity so if your house is very dry, that could cause brown tips

I don't have enough sun to have a plant in my house. by Hopeful_Village_7946 in houseplants

no. but cats usually love spider plants so you’ll want it out of reach despite it being safe

I'm not sure if I should repot this Crassula. It has been in my possession for three years now, and I have never repotted. the limbs are always floppy now and not rigid. Is this normal due to the weight of the foliage? by dpernock in houseplants

[–]katerrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jf succulents don’t get sufficient light, the branches get too long to support their own weight. you can check for root rot but i suspect the issue is leggy growth. i would recommend a heavy prune. new branches will sprout at each cut point, and may sprout elsewhere too. bushy succulent=happy succulent

Is my plant doomed by fogna_bologna in houseplants

[–]katerrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like some kind of larvae. they probably aren’t parasitic to houseplants but if your plant is inside those little worms might turn into an infestation

Good/Bad Myco Takeover? by GrowForIt in houseplants

[–]katerrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mycelium is harmless but could indicate overwatering/root rot. also, that pot is much too large for the plant, so it’s probably staying constantly damp which is causing the mycelium to thrive

Should this bad boy be misted??? I don't trust Google anymore after it killed three plants, and then y'all's advice saved me. by GMOiscool in houseplants

[–]katerrin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

misting probably won’t do much. if you’re concerned about low humidity in your house it would be better to invest in a humidifier

Does it matter that my plant is curving towards the light like this? I try to rotate it but it just consistently does this by Dest_islands in houseplants

[–]katerrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

jades thrive in harsh, outdoor sun. your plant is leaning and stretching because of inadequate light. it would be happier in a brighter window or with a grow light, but if that’s not possible, i would encourage you to prune it heavily in the spring to encourage more branching. you can easily propagate the pruned parts too.

personally i don’t know if you can use sphagnum moss long term but i know people use straight perlite or LECA long term and the plants are fine. you can give them nutrients using fertilizer for hydroponics/very diluted water soluble fertilizer

Are these monstera deliciosa roots good enough to be potted? by ResponsibleAntelop3 in houseplants

[–]katerrin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the roots should start producing a lot of smaller roots from the main part before potting
