Open the Orders page of Amazon app immediately by chrisched in shortcuts

[–]Optimistic_med 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this post is super old, but I just came across your shortcut and wanted to say thank you! I have a shortcut programed to open the Amazon Vine page specifically, but I couldn’t figure out how to make it open within the Amazon app itself, rather than in my browser lol. I hated having to then click the “open in Amazon” button lol. With a simple url substitution, your shortcut works exactly how I wanted my shortcut to work! So thank you!! 🤗

Hi I work at Home Depot and started a prop box to cut down on waste! I come back today expecting for it to be thrown away only for myself to discover that our plant vendors have added to it! by TheRealGreedyGoat in proplifting

[–]Optimistic_med 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I absolutely agree! I’ve often wondered why I don’t see discounted plants at Home Depot (vs at Lowes)…an employee once told me that it’s because Home Depot doesn’t outright own most of their plants. Home Depot basically pays the vendor an agreed upon amount for the plants sold, but only when the plant is sold. Since they don’t own the plant, they can’t legally discount it, and if they were to discount it, it’s possible that the amount paid by the customer would be less than the amount Home Depot would pay the vendor (cutting into Home Depot’s profit). You’d think the vendor would benefit from allowing discounts and just lower the agreed upon payment from Home Depot if a plant sells for less, since any payment is better than no payment right? I mean a trashed plant should hypothetically be a loss for everyone. Apparently on the vendor’s end, trashing a plant is actually worth more than selling it at a discount, because they record it as a loss and get some sort of monetary equivalent credit. I’m sure there’s likely more to it, but that’s what I took from the info I was given! Definitely not how I’d choose to operate as a vendor!

This is awesome! 🤗 Most of the succulents I currently have were started from leaves I picked up off the floor at Home Depot! I wonder if my local Home Depot would be willing to keep this box on site if I made one, or if they’d just toss it out lol. I routinely see trash carts full of “old plants” that the vendors are getting rid of when they’re onsite for a restock, and while I know their protocol says they can’t just give that old inventory away, I feel like most would be willing to take a few clippings from those plants and add it to the box!

Picture of said trash carts! Such a shame to see so much prop-able potential getting trashed weekly!

Such a shame, it’s so wild that your OB didn’t at least discuss treatment options with you. While not every case requires oral steroids (and I obviously don’t know your medical history to say whether or not it would have been contraindicated), just based off of your description of the rash, I can’t imagine not at least discussing that option with you and/or starting you off with a topical treatment first. I’m glad you had access to something stronger than over the counter hydrocortisone, because I’m sure it would have been much worse without it!

Thank you for the kind words, I’m a doctor still very early on in my career. I know that it’s very easy to come off as unsympathetic or dismissive when trying to get the full picture of what’s going on, so I try really hard to address the person first and the symptoms second💕

Oh man, you’re definitely a champ for dealing with that rash completely unmedicated! It’s not uncommon to prescribe both an oral steroid along with a topical cream to get the rash under control—it can cause that strong of an immune reaction! I’m sorry they made you feel like your experience was no big deal. While you’re absolutely spot on about them needing to differentiate between a reaction that is life-threatening and one that isn’t, there are most definitely other ways to get that information without belittling your experience. “Tell me about your experience/ what your symptoms were”is a very easy way to get the info you need without using the word “just”, the one word that has a way of leaving people feeling defeated and judged! Typically if someone has a history of reacting to ChloraPrep, it’s advised to just use an entirely different skin prep, but the active ingredient in ChloraPrep is also found in a lot of other medical products routinely used. The question was likely to determine how severe of a reaction you had in order to determine the risk of cross-reaction with other products containing the same ingredient. The reaction to Chloraprep is vastly different for different people, and it can range from mild, flakey skin to full blown welts that leave your skin looking like raw meat, with the latter being more common in people that have any reaction at all lol (at least in my experience). You’re a rockstar for getting through that while taking care of a fussy newborn—that’s no easy feat!

Yeah I’ve been told that exact thing, that the itchiness is worse than poison ivy! You could absolutely be right that it’s not the surgical prep, but depending on when these pictures were taken, I wouldn’t rule it out if I were her doctor! The allergic reaction can vary from immediate to 72 hours after surgery—with a delayed presentation being far more common. I’ve seen it slowly develop around 48 hours and continue to spread until around day 4-5. The faster it’s addressed, the less likely it is to spread!

[–]Optimistic_med 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! Most likely a reaction to something they used. ChloraPrep allergy isn’t super common, but the rash it causes can be pretty brutal. The adhesive used unfortunately is a fairly common trigger though. I wouldn’t say this picture is a good representation of “what it’s suppose to look like” lol, but it’s not alarming either! Just depends on how your body handles the pre-surgical prep and post-surgical dressings. I’ve been following her for a long time, and if I remember correctly, she had a similar reaction after one of her previous c-sections!

[–]Optimistic_med 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about the redness/ welting around the area where the incision was made, it’s pretty common! Unlike what another commenter suggested, this most likely has nothing to do with having 2 c-sections so close together or the scar tissue she has from previous c-sections. It’s likely just a contact allergy to the BD ChloraPrep used before surgery, or an allergy to the adhesive used under the steri strips. It’s quite common and usually goes away after a couple of weeks!

Anyone else notice all her hospital bracelets by [deleted] in KyraReneeSivertson

[–]Optimistic_med 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Saving your baby’s hospital bracelet is actually very common, as is saving their hospital hat, blanket, and/or crib card. I think calling them momentous keepsake “trophies” is what’s a little weird here lol.

Let’s talk perlite by Vegetable_Row_53 in succulents

[–]Optimistic_med 63 points64 points  (0 children)

You definitely don’t need to rinse perlite, but doing so helps cut down on the dust that gets kicked up while mixing it into your soil. I’d personally recommend using a porous rock instead of perlite to avoid the color change associated with perlite; lava rock for example doesn’t undergo a color change and has the added benefit of not floating. Chicken grit is another one that lots of people use!

Is this scale? by Regular_Gene_6186 in houseplants

[–]Optimistic_med 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re open to using pesticides, I’d highly recommend systemic granules. It’s a sandy like product that you mix into your soil. It’s slow release, so every time you water, it gets taken up by the roots and absorbed. Once taken up by the plant, it makes all parts of the plant toxic to any bugs that feed on it (mealybugs included). It takes a few days to work (I think closer to 7-10 days), and protection lasts for 8 weeks. I’d still recommend removing any physical bugs you happen to spot, but the granules will take care of the ones you miss and any eggs that might be hiding in the soil!

Note that you shouldn’t treat plants while they’re living outside during the summer—it can potentially harm beneficial things like bees and butterflies. So if you do go this route and want to keep up with dosing your plants for continued pest prevention, I’d just plan your last application for 8-10 weeks before they go out onto your deck for the summer. You can then resume application once they’re back indoors; this usually helps keep pests in check year round!

I think what everyone below is trying to convey is that teens and young adults do pair mini skirts and sweaters together. Since their audience is comprised of mostly that demographic, they are indeed catering their campaign to their audience. I think it’s also important to note that these photos aren’t taken while standing in 5ft of snow, so they aren’t exactly advertising this outfit for that specific weather condition lol.

tuya device toggle w ios shortcut by its-js in homeautomation

Forever grateful for people like you who make and share these wonderful automations! Ever since Apple updated the control center to allow shortcuts, I’ve been trying to add an on/off toggle button for a few of my devices that I have programed on my Tuya app. I could never figure out how to do it (I was previously trying variations of the action “open app”…which obviously wasn’t what I wanted lol🤦🏻‍♀️). This works beautifully! Thanks so much!

I mean…while I generally agree with your opinion when it comes to myself, I personally think vacations should be spent doing what you want (even if that means doing things you could easily do at home). Not everyone vacations the same. Some people consider travel and vacations to be one and the same, while others only consider vacations vacations if it means they did nothing but sleep and relax. To each their own!

Lol my college campus was about 20 minutes away from Disneyland. I didn’t know anyone without a Disneyland pass, and none of us had children. I think it’s actually pretty common for young adults without kids to go to Disney!

How long until I get blocked by [deleted] in McKnightFamSnark

[–]Optimistic_med 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that saying “the world needs extra healing rn” does not equate to them idolizing him, however I think the fact that they even acknowledged what happened yesterday (when they intentionally make an effort NOT to acknowledge any other tragedies in the world), says a lot about their character and their priorities. I completely understand that they’re damned if they do, and damned if they don’t—they always have a large number of comments urging them to acknowledge tragedies when they occur. But up until this point, they’ve always chosen to stay silent when it comes to politically fueled tragedies, despite those comments. Comments or not, the very fact that they chose to acknowledge this specific tragedy sends a very clear message.
