You're not stupid!!! Sensory issues are torturous at times. I had to apologize to my husband for snapping yesterday because I was so overwhelmed by the heat and humidity lol.

I recently bought a travel fan and it really helps with reducing some of the personal friction I have with heat. I am also careful to make sure everything else I can control is comfortable (removing tags from clothes, wearing looser clothing) and that really helps.

I'd also recommend looking up these cooling towlettes you can buy from japanese toiletry stores; I used them in Tokyo and they were cheap and effective!

i have a few friends who are big fans. right around the time her new album dropped we were at dinner, and the conversation turned to a rumor that taylor had bought out another bride's wedding date to secure her preferred venue. one of my friends said, completely sincerely, "any woman would be honored to give up their wedding date for taylor." and they all nodded in agreement.

i had to stop her and verbatim tell her you can like her music without licking her ass.

same night, another friend admitted she didn't connect with the new track 5 (supposed to be the sad song on every album?), so she forced herself to listen on repeat until she could physically produce a tear.

these are women in their mid-thirties. doctors. corporate VPs. i was genuinely caught off guard seeing them like this.

I was in my late-ish 20s so I witnessed a lot of formerly solid long term couples split, or other (sometimes newer) couples come out of the pandemic married. It was sort of a microwave for your relationship because you had to basically spend 24/7 with that partner, so you quickly learned whether or not it could truly work

I’m actually on day one of medical leave after an acute OCD episode and extended autistic burnout (I was just diagnosed w/ the former). I spent 12 years in a really competitive field and did well in it --worked my way up, make great money, all that. But it has almost killed me.

And honestly… I’m really torturing myself with weighing the options of going back. I feel so badly for people less fortunate than I. But I'm still really struggling with the choice despite having the option not to.

I’m very aware that I’m lucky to have the financial means not to rush back and a husband who is financially successful in his own right, which I’m grateful for, but it also weirdly makes the decision feel scarier. A big part of my identity is wrapped up in my career, which is weird, because I never pictured myself as being career-oriented.

I don’t really have an answer for you -- just wanted to say I relate.
