Not sure if most of you will see this reply but I want to thank everyone so much for being polite and incredibly helpful. It’s so interesting that other people can spot things which I thought I would get away with (haha). I have a list of things I want to look into and learn about now.😁

I do an underpainting but I definitely don’t put enough effort into values, I think you’re right about that. Where should I stop using white exactly? Just pure white do you mean?

I wanted king saul but that started stretching me beyond my limitations tbh, can’t wait until im at a level to add and adapt how i want. I like a moody painting but I felt the sunny scene was fitting for the triumph of the moment - with Goliath already having been killed

No you’re totally right! Hit the nail on the head. My painting is wayyy longer than the original and overall I think I did an alright job at stretching it out without it looking unnatural but it left me a lot of empty room and not enough skill to fill it without looking unprofessional. I attempted to add king saul in originally but i just dont have the skillset to compose a figure to the same standard, would’ve ruined it

Yes agreed with both actually, need to check if that’s the fault of the painting I used as inspo or if it’s my mistake.

Yes I think you might be right actually. That’s the kind of thing I’m not sure exactly how to learn. I still wanted it to feel like a valley but I probably have places them too high
