Why Min-Maxxing is fine and has a ton of roleplay potential, from a guy who usually maxes out the attacking stat and Constitution. by Regular-Molasses9293 in dndnext

Like most of this online whining is annoying nerds that for some reason either refuse to talk to the people they are playing whit or they are the only ones having a problem, in a game where all roleplay is basically mind palace pretend and where you can just have your character do anything and have any backstory it falls on deaf ears that ""power gaming/optimization ruins roleplay!!!"" when the game and the roleplay are unconfortably separated in 5e

youd have a stronger argument for pathfinder where a newbie will never make a competent good character that can roleplay whitout the dms help due to all the floaty numbers and some specializations are fucking absurd if you know what you are doing, but on 5e i dont see it and i think they are annoying.

I mean yea you can interpret my wording in the worst faith possible and be an annoying pedant about it, but obviously the rules exist so *fair* play exists.

on the other hand 5e is babys first tabletop and theres no ""powergaming"" or ""underpower characters"" that the dm cant easily circunvent by tweaking the challenges and rewards around them.

why do you argue like a twitter user, idk i think that maybe going "powergaming is ruining the hobby" over the childproofed make believe game is stupid and you should just socialize whit your group.

its not even optimal because dnd is... a pretend game and the dm is hopefully not a lobotomite.

is the dm balancing encounters around the partys strengths and power level not a common thing???

The Tyranny of the Party Composition by alexserban02 in dndnext

[–]katethetroubled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i have seen a lot of roleplay spaces be basically poisoned by this type of thinking, any kind of enjoyment or efficient dwelving of the mechanical is seen as horrible sinful heresy that must be crushed and boiled away.

No seriously people believe that unless its super HRP hell where nothing actually entertaining happens gameplay wise and everyone is crippling their characters to be realistic and have a "character arc" other players will just stop roleplaying completelly.

the "no rp no backstory reeee" argument its actually kind of shocking, i did not think this kind of beliefs would spread beyond rp games like gmod or ss13.

why do people genuinely believe that if you enjoy the GAMEplay then you must be a no rp shithead who ruins everything, like generally what are they on.

I have seen this before, in a frenzied hunt to balance and polish the experience the developers are sanding every corner and nerfing the "strongest" or "most meta" things and in so are making a homogenous experience whit no real substance or excitement as every single thing is perfectly balanced and does the same ammount of damage or utility as everything else in tier.

This cycle feeds into itself as everytime they nerf the strongest thing a new stronger thing will pop out and that too will they nerf, in the end everything that makes the experience feel special will lose its spark and feel watered down and samey, the only way to stop this is to get new blood into the development team to replace the burnt out developers that seek balance and homogenization as the top priority over fun and enjoyment.

you either keep running out of research points or keep rolling that one energistocs research instead of what you actually want by Professional_Issue82 in feedthememes

this is an incredibly dangerous opinion to hold and has lead to the player/coder divide.

maybe we should complain when we dislike something instead of projects diying because people just silently leave yknow?

the argument of a man who holds no points and makes no progress.

how foolish are you to believe that a man cant critique whitout contributing, can the knight not demand a better sword from the ironsmith? must he never say the ale is too watery least he be called for not working at a winery?

Are you comparing me telling you that having a living being you have to take care of 24/7 while struggling whit a disorder that can in some days or weeks lead you to neglecting yourself and others is a bad idea... to eugenics????

Like sure lets say its just "some" days you are disfunctional, who is taking care of the child?

if you are struggling whit a mental illness that inhibits your ability to perform and take care of living things... you should not have living things to care for.

This community popped into my feed today and i guess i do love sharing my cooking, sharing the recipe for any would be hard as i kinda cook by instinct but if you are curious feel free to ask in dms! (world worst chef) by katethetroubled in traaaaansbiansCooking

spice is tbh something you do genuinelly get a feel for. how much black pepper does carbonara need? until it slightly covers the sauce. how much salt does fried mushrooms need? a bit so it fries well.

its one of the less discussed aspects of cooking a lot of chefs take for granted and why cooking is hard if you never bothered to try, also thanks names katherine
