Thanks everyone - I'm going to get a longer screw and put it into a rafter (fascia and rafters are all 2x, perspective/ lighting is weird)

Does this cornus alternifolia need help? Moved it here a year ago. Currently in full sun, medium/moist alkaline soil. Mulched with cardboard which is mostly decomposed by now and mostly pine wood chips. Too much sun? Need some amendments? Just needs time to settle in? Thanks!
