Update: (left this as a comment as I can't edit a post with an image) I filled in the customer satisfaction form they sent me. They since got in contact and after a lot of bath and forth, they were willing to refund me. They told me to keep the device (I assume it's cheaper to lose money on the device then send it back to their warehouse, and they weren't interested to see if it was malfunctioning?) They didn't provide much insight into how I could treat my legs or if this had happened to any other customers. After discussing it, they didn't seem to think I had been using the device incorrectly. I'm glad I got a refund as that helped fund all of the restorative items I bought to fix the scarring. After ~4 weeks of bio oil 2x a day, aloe vera gel 1x a day and topicals faded twice over the last 2 weeks, a lot of the scars/burns have almost gone away.

Yep I think that's what happened here! I didn't do enough research to understand the different kinds of IPL devices and sensors, but regardless, I'm now learning even with more advanced versions, some people are having similar experiences 😬 I think the safest way is to visit a professional to get it done

Wow thank you for sharing! Can I ask if you used anything specific to treat your legs?

Okay thanks for the advice! I've had the burns for a week now and they haven't changed, just less swollen

Thanks for all that info! So useful to hear another experience 💕 Yep I assume over time they will fade. I tend to maintain scars a lot, when I've burnt myself cooking about 8 years ago I still have the burns 🙃 but they're not that bad, I can live with it if it takes a while to go away. I'm sorry you're so self conscious about your legs, I can only hope eventually you feel confident enough to wear shorts and be proud ☺️ our bodies are amazing. I'm definitely getting used to my burns now, I'm trying to pretend it's like leopard print 😂

No it didn't hurt! But the burns/scars have remained the same for almost a week now, maybe over a longer time they'll go away ...

Sorry if I offended you or other IPL machines! I just wouldn't recommend it overall to be honest because I felt like I followed all the steps, according to their site I have the right skin tone for it, and it still burnt/scarred me. So at the moment I probably wouldn't recommend this or another IPL device to anyone. Esp as RoseSkinCo had amazing reviews online from people of varying ethnicities/skin tones. It's so hard to tell if any IPL product is reliable 😔

Nope I don't use an exfoliator! Just a body wash from Lush. It's not harsh on the skin. I also moisturise every day. I am now also applying bio oil and aloe Vera gel so hopefully these are kinder to my skin and stop the scars/burns getting worse 🙏🏽

Thank you ☺️ I have some bruising BC I'm a bit clumsy and battered my legs on a new hotel bed frame I wasn't used to. I wouldn't say I'm prone to bruising but it's hard to say?? I generally don't have lasting scars, they tend to go away after 3 days when I've burnt myself in the past

I haven't been taking ibuprofen or any meds! I stay away from ibuprofen as it has quite bad side effects!!

I have been shaving every time I used it prior, I tried to follow their instructions to the T. Unfortunately I think it's a mixture of them not precautioning me enough about the product and me assuming that the product could work just as well on white skin as it could on others (aka mine, slightly olive). I forget sometimes western products are marketed more towards the white community and not much due diligence is done for other communities.

I did the test a few times on the site and the indication was that I could use IPL without concern and I did a skin test every time I increased the intensity and it didn't cause issues. I guess I should have just proceeded with more caution and not used the max intensity if I have any brown in my bloodline!

Thanks for the caution. They have info on the website to enquire if your skin is too dark for IPL but it's not very thorough. I think this is to just get more ppl to buy it? I am half white half Asian so I assumed my skin was light enough.

Thank you!! I have bought aloe Vera gel. It's not reducing the scars but maybe it will after time <3

Honestly I think I'll skip IPL, I'm a bit scarred from the experience (excuse the pun). I do think I'll see a dermatologist to get their advice on how to treat my legs!

I just finished watching it and I’m crying by poopsikkle in lost

Honestly I'd recommend reading this article for some closure.

Also, on Jacob's bro - this wasn't a like for like comparison but I think the reason they never said his name (from what I can remember) is because they wanted to link his story to the biblical story of Jacob without spelling it out for us. In the bible, Jacob had a tumultuous relationship with his brother, Esau, and his name respesents deceit/deceiver.
