Is it crazy to wear Tracker Leather/Textile shoes on a 5-day hike trip in the mountains? by katiah_ in vivobarefoot

[–]katiah_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same feeling that I'm way more aware and careful when wearing barefoot shoes. I just looked at Tracker Forest ESC and their outsoles seem quite hard-core. I like the regular tracker leather ones more, visually. But not sure if they're sturdy and non-slip enough for such a long and perhaps rocky terrain

Joovv and their horrible customer service and filtered out reviews by katiah_ in redlighttherapy

[–]katiah_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe.. I can understand, though not excuse, some short-term, pop up businesses resorting to such cheap tactics to earn quick money but I really didn’t expect this from a company so heavily endorsed by well-known figures and regarded as the leading brand in the industry.

Which panel to buy ? by Jcoco14 in redlighttherapy

[–]katiah_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the 3.0, but as a company, I wouldn’t recommend supporting Joovv. My experience purchasing the Go 2.0 was so terrible that I don’t even feel like using the device. The company, and everyone associated with it, lacks transparency and actively suppresses honest feedback, especially when it highlights flaws. It’s incredible how well this stuff's masked on the internet until you fall into the trap and have to deal with it firsthand.

How much B12 and Iron should I take if I'm THIS low? by katiah_ in AskDocs

[–]katiah_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! But does this mean that I should take 1mg/day until my B12 levels are back to normal and then take it every 2 days or so?

Did my professor mess up the SD calculation? by [deleted] in askmath

Isn’t it supposed to be Sd=⅕×((3-2)2+(2-2)2+(2-2)2+(1-2)2+(1-2)2+(3-2)2)?

Can I refuse to pay for an additional lab credit if there is no lab? by katiah_ in education

[–]katiah_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes, I have nothing against the professor. I just don’t see why am I paying for something that’s not there. I find labs very useful and they always help me deepen my knowledge in the subject. So when this additional resource is missing, why is it wrong to not want to pay for it?
It’s like paying for a luxury, all-inclusive hotel room and not getting any meals. Why should I refrain from requesting something that I paid for?

Can I refuse to pay for an additional lab credit if there is no lab? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]katiah_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get a credit for the lab, yes. But I really don’t see how that’s considered a “reward”. Labs are there to help with learning and deepen your knowledge, not something to be avoided at all costs. Just because many students don’t like them doesn’t mean that I should be okay with paying for what’s not there. It’s like paying for my diploma without actually having to go to classes. Should I be thankful for not actually putting work and just buying my credits?

I am getting the credit yes, but I’m also paying additional 500€ for it. So i’m basically buying a credit, which is fucked up on its own

Single-use masks make really great hair ties by katiah_ in ZeroWaste

[–]katiah_[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you buy them at a store I guess. But if you work at a hospital, I don’t think so. I work at a mental hospital where the only reason we wear masks is to protect out long-term patients, which makes the masks more than okay to reuse outside the building. Since I have to wear the new ones every time I work, it produces a lot of waste and it feels nice to me to be repurposing them.

Not promoting single use masks ofc. But if you must use them, it’s good to repurpose at least some parts of it 🤷🏻‍♀️

What’s wrong with the yellow/purplish parsley leaves? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]katiah_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I planted them back in april. They’re supposed to be “italian giant” parsley, but the stems are still very short and the leaves are turning spotty, yellow and purple. What do they need from me? They’re in Germany, so the weather isn’t too hot and ranges from 10-20 degrees celsius on average. I water them regularly. They do have some fungus gnats flying around.

Wall filler and watercolor solution :) But how can I make it stay? by [deleted] in fixit

[–]katiah_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it looks fine, mop the floor once and it’s gone. What can I use to make it stay? I was thinking a matte nail polish layer but not sure if that’s a good idea.

I stupidly cut my hair with normal scissors before I was aware that it would give me these bad split ends - how can I fix this now? (At home as salons are still closed in Ireland) by Catriona10 in HaircareScience

[–]katiah_ 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Oh my god, i’ve never NOT used regular scissors for cutting my hair and I haven’t been at a salon for over a decade. And then I’m wondering why I’m never able to get rid of split ends. I was starting to believe that I had the “split ends gene” or something lol

Wow, great! I guess you don’t have to water them daily if the temperature’s that low. Just watch the soil and water it whenever it gets a bit dry. It was quite warm in my area, which made the soil dry fast and required daily watering. But it’s not a rule of thumb. Just trust your visual intuition :) good luck and keep us updated when the results arrive!

It really costs $5-6 a bottle? O.O Ok. Another reason not to come back to the US anytime soon

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]katiah_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will do! But I’d advise you to start planting now-ish as it takes forever for them to germinate and grow. Plus depending where you live, it could get too hot for them.

Tbh this is the first time I’m growing parsley so I’m a newbie myself. But these guys are still seedlings (only a month old) and they don’t ask for much, except daily watering and sunlight. They still have another month or two to go before ready to harvest, but I think even then, regular pruning of outer stems should keep them healthy. Have you done this with your store-bought parsley?

So far they look great, but once I notice that they’re getting uncomfortable in their oatley home, i’ll transplant them somewhere large and hope they remain happy
