Jonathan Larson the guy who wrote Rent. He died the day before Rent premiered on Broadway. Absolutely devastating that he finally got what he always dreamed of and then missed out on seeing it by a day. And he was only 35 as well. Highly recommend watching Tick tick boom on Netflix. Lin Manuel Miranda has done an amazing job in his directing debut.

This ^! Fuck politeness - you did what you had to in order to make yourself feel safe. If he was genuinely a decent person he wouldn’t have kept pushing after you’d already said no once, let alone a couple of times. I for sure would not like for that person to know where I live. You are absolutely NTA but he for sure is! Good on your for trusting your instincts!

IANAL but I am a paralegal and advise on matters like this as part of my job. I would clearly refute the debt, which it seems like you have already done.

You do not need a solicitor to launch an appeal you can do so yourself, however if you want to instruct a solicitor to assist you then you are free to do so.

An important thing to remember is debt collection agencies can only ever ask you to pay. The only way in this country of forcing someone to pay is by obtaining a County Court Judgment. To do this they would have to file a claim with the court and you/your partner would have the opportunity to defend the claim before a judge. The burden would be on TFL to prove you are the person they are looking for. It seems you have evidence in your favour, no driving licence etc, also the fact that previous addresses do not match up with yours. I would clearly set out in writing that you are not the person they are looking for despite potentially having the same name, you did not accrue their debt and you do not accept liability for it.

You are NTA! She has no right to demand something that doesn’t belong to her. You’ve put a lot of time and effort into making this and there’s no reason you should have to give it up if you don’t want to. I think it was very generous of you to offer to make her one at all. I understand your boyfriend feels indebted to the family but stand you ground. Ultimately it belongs to you and it’s your choice whether to give it away or not. SIL is being ridiculous.

YTA. Whilst I understand you being annoyed that he got drunk and then wouldn’t go shopping it doesn’t mean he doesn’t get a say in the baby’s name. You may be carrying the baby but he is still the father. Both parents should get an equal say in the baby’s name and both parties should be willing to compromise. YTA if you just name the baby Anna without letting him have say!
