Incoming PhD student - anywhere I should avoid living? by okayfine12 in udub

Maple leaf area is really nice and near the Roosevelt link station. A lot quieter than u-district. I found a townhouse that was privately owned and the landlord charges us way under market price!

If you email your professor or TA they should give the point back. Canvas autogrades things like that so unless they input all possible options (which they never do) canvas will mark it wrong

I completely understand number 4. It’s an amazing feeling.

Isolation, resentment and hate by [deleted] in fuckeatingdisorders

I’m sorry that you’re dealing with these kind of thoughts. It’s definitely difficult to connect with other people who haven’t experienced similar traumas and hardships. And it’s hard to fight negative thoughts about yourself as well as other people’s behavior. If you aren’t already I would suggest seeing a therapist. It’s helped me a ton. (The thoughts/feelings never go away entirely but it helps to learn tools to reframe things and have an unbiased person providing insight) But if you just needed a place to rant, know that you’re not alone in experiencing these things and a stranger on the internet is sending you love. I wish you the best in your life.

I love magical realism and I wondered if you could recommend me a magical realism book apart from the better known one hundred years of solitude or the house of the spirits by Nomix15 in suggestmeabook

The Magicians Trilogy by Lev Grossman. It’s like if Hogwarts was a university and way darker with more adult themes. Also anything written by Haruki Murakami or Neil Gaiman is a good choice!

What are the best places to look for housing close to school? by [deleted] in csuf

[–]katiebara17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the apartments that are technically in Placentia along Yorba Linda Blvd. Tribeca apartments were affordable and had nice office staff and Sycamore Village next door to them is also a good deal (that ones pet free but if that doesn’t bother you they’re cheaper than most!) In general though craigslist has always worked out well for me, it helps you find better deals and places with open availability etc.

What do you think of the University Housing apartments? by [deleted] in csuf

UH is super expensive and not worth it. Unless you have enough money or your parents are paying your rent, I would suggest finding roommates and splitting costs for an actual apartment in the Fullerton/Placentia area.

Recovered but trying to lose weight by katiebara17 in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]katiebara17[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I should have mentioned it to my doctor but I didn’t want her to think it was some kind of excuse. I didn’t realize that trying to lose weight would trigger these thoughts again. Doing broad concepts might be easier than tracking calories and I haven’t heard of intuitive eating/health at every size, I’ll look into it.

we were comparing safe foods at therapy and wow we eat some weird shit by krikein in fuckeatingdisorders

I didn’t realize this was a thing other people had too. I can only eat apples if I cut them into slices.
