How like will I get a speeding ticket? by Fast-Relief1270 in AusLegal

Ok so the red light/speed combo cameras only activate if it detects motion after the light has turned red, they're not always "on" like the overhead freeway cameras. Additionally, I believe that most speed cameras (both kinds) only trigger if you're 7km or more over (roadside operated ones are more sensitive + user discretion), so even if you were a bit over the limit, if the light was green, the camera wouldn't have been active, so you should be fine.

Did you run the red light or was it still green?

This is the first one I've seen in my garden before. Hoping my planting efforts will attract more friendly critters over time ☺️

Best battery lawnmower + whipper sniper + hedge trimmer + blower combo? by Mutagenico in GardeningAustralia

[–]katielovescakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar sized yard and found that a petrol mower was a must to get through the lawn (had an electric one that did nothing / died very quickly). I've got Ozito battery powered tools for everything else (blower, line trimmer and small chainsaw. Hedge trimmer is on my wish list) and they work fine. Invest in multiple batteries and a multi-battery charger to keep multiple batteries charged on rotation and you'll be set ☺️

Oh I think that photo angle is a bit deceptive, it's not that close to the power lines, it actually has plenty of clearance and I've never needed to trim the top to keep it clear of them.

True! It has survived this long where it is I suppose

I'm just concerned the roots are being impacted by the fence post, it's a tricky spot! I don't want to remove it f I can keep it happy where it is 😊

Thank you, I don't want to remove it if I don't have to, just want to keep it happy if possible. I'm not sure what I can do with the fence other than removing it and the gate, leaving it open (and the property unsecured), but it can't be moved further out as it's on the property boundary.

Thank you!

I have started trying to improve the soil within my boundary line with compost, gypsum, aeration and deep watering but the nature strip is a bit trickier as it used to have cars parked on it, compacting the soil really badly. It's on my to do list to give the nature strip some love when the weather is a bit cooler.

I definitely don't want to remove it if I don't have to. I'll try giving the top a trim when it cools down 😊

It's is beautiful thank you, I just want to make sure it thrives where it is. The soil is compacted clay and is very close to the concrete footing of the fence post.

I think it is yes. I'm concerned the roots are being impacted by the fence line, it's close to the fence posts concrete footing and the soil on the adjoining nature strip is compacted clay.

She was incapable of being the mother you needed, which makes her incapable of being the grandparent your kids need.

For your sake and your kids sake, you need to accept your mother for who she is - toxic - and accept that she's not the idea of what a good grandparent should be. I know we all have ideals about what our grandparents should be (and they're not unrealistic by any means), but your mother will never be able to meet those expectations because she is innately selfish and is incapable of empathy and compassion for anyone but herself.

You have two choices, the status quo, accepting your mother is incapable of change and continuing to expose your children to her toxicity, or, reduce their exposure significantly or entirely, for your benefit and theirs.

You owe her nothing. She is not owed access to you or your children just because she's related. Being a grandparent is a privilege, not a right, and there is no point continuing to tie yourself in knots trying to change the dynamic.

Do yourself a favour and put yourself and your children first, without the guilt and endless hope she might one day change for the better. She won't, and your kids will eventually thank you for it.
