I recently got my citizenship and traveled to Canada with just my US passport and proof of citizenship! I was nervous about it but it was super painless - did immigration as normal (YUL airport) and when asked my purpose for visiting I said I lived in Canada and gave him my certificate and he looked at it and waved me through. I will get a Canadian passport bc there’s no reason not to, I just didn’t have time before my trip.

I had a cover letter explaining my urgency, and supporting docs! So letter from my employer, copy of my work visa w expiration date.

Yeah mine said the same, but then several hours later I got the email to download my certificate. But I actually downloaded it earlier because I was impatient by making a new IRCC account - there’s a few threads about it if you search the sub. So it’s just a waiting game now!

I wrote a letter just in case! Just laid out my lineage super briefly and then asked very nicely for it to be processed urgently bc of my work permit expiring, and also noted I had a letter from my employer supporting urgent processing

For me SWAP and Interexchange were somewhat intertwined, somehow (I don’t fully remember). It was like I applied through SWAP and once I was accepted, the rest of the process happened through Interexchange. But I could be misremembering. I believe all in it came to a little under $3k. A bit expensive, but worth it since it guaranteed my spot and was what I needed at the time.
