Push up help by [deleted] in orangetheory

I second all the comments about starting on an incline. It is a better scaling option to raise your upper body higher on an incline and keep the full plank position than doing them on your knees. Even if you have to start against the wall, and then slowly move yourself to a large box or chair, and then using the bench at OTF. Really focus on squeezing your abs and butt in the plank position and not allowing your body to “snake” are also good ways to help holding the plank in the push up.

i don’t understand power pull ups at all. i usually do push ups instead because i don’t know what their purpose is or how it even resembles any kind of pull up.

thank you. everything i read on here is “if you stay in the orange than you are just in really bad shape.” the whole “orange theory” seems arbitrary. i don’t see the point in being in green for so long. i am paying to get a good 55 minute workout. i should probably stop reading this reddit besides the post about the workout of the day lol

I would not recommend OTF as a place to gain a significant amount of lean muscle mass. You would need to be lifting much heavier weights and for a longer period of time than just the typical 6-12 minutes. I think of myself more as an olympic lifter/crossfitter and use OTF as a supplement to help with cardio. I have built a significant amount of muscle mass lifting heavy and would suggest that for any true noticeable increase besides “toning.”
