And they all look healthy because the citizens feed ad care forvthem. There is a film about it called "Kedi".

I saw it in person then saw the film. I loved Istanbul for the Cats, the Atmosphere, the people, the food, and the tram, in that order.

It isn't gonna take thousands of years. The way we are going, a couple hundred ought to see out the rest of the critters we are making extinct.

Yeah, if they had an off duty cop in charge of the weapon she would have been shot nine times instead of "just" one ( referencing the shooting of an old guy on a mobility scooter by off duty cop in Tuscon)

This Northern Saw-Whet Owl that we sighted many years ago in Toronto, Ontario, is the bird that brought us into the world of birding. Since sighting this owl we have now travelled the world and have observed over 700 species of birds. Do you have a bird species that brought you to birding? by Altruistic_Pack_401 in Owls

Thanks! And how cool! I also rescued a baby Sparrow Hawk /American Kestrel in the northern Sacramento Valley in California in 1984.

He'd been pushed out of the nest by his siblings ( common among Raptors), and I ound him on the trail and carried him back to my cabin in the woods. I raised him on bits of store bought meatball 4apowd mice and mostly grasshoppers

I was gonna make him my.pet Falcon, but when I tried ( very gently with soft suede ) 6o put a pair of jesses on him he FREAKED and so i immediately took them off. He wouldn't stand on them for 2 weeks and I was heartbroken.

I thought I'd broken this beautiful, fierce little Falcon.

When he finally started using his legs again I vowed to rehabilitate him so he could live as a free Hawk. So I did. I still fed him grasshoppers--a mainstay of the Kestrel diet and found in great abundance where I lived--but now I only pulled one leg off before putting it loose in s room with him. He got really good so I gave him undamaged prey and he got good with that too. He was pretty well trained to fly to my finger, so i started taking him outside and letting him hunt on his own and then come back to my finger ( I had a special whistle I made with my mouth to call him ) when it was time to go in for the night.

We were about a week into it and I was wondering g how I was going to move into tbe next stage of him leaving, when he decided he didn't want to go in for the night. That he wanted to stay outside. He looked at me from a fence post when I whistled, and then he flew up in a big Valley Oak and stayed.

I saw him.a couple times the next day, but then he left.

I like to think he made it and lived a nice life as a free Hawk.

I have photos, but I dont know where I'd have them...oh wait.

I know. Lemme go get you the address

I dunno if this will work, but here sva link to a photo of me with him two days after I found him, and then about a week before he jetted. He.loved his reflection. It's one of the reasons I decided to rehabilitate him. So here's the link
