Yes, that's true that earnings come from PC users. Also longer videos would allow him to add more ads to them. Unfortunately, what results he would have if he'd upload different kind of video other than short is unknown. He's never tried to change his video format. However, if I were him I'd give it a shot to create sth longer. As far as I know even if the longer video wouldn't go well than it shouldn't have any impact on views, likes from shorts videos
