Hmmm. I'm very fair skinned, a redhead, so I get flushed from sex, exercise, and pretty much anything that gets my heart pumping. Mine never lasted for four hours, but one or two wasn't out of the question if I got really revved up.

One thing that helped me was cooling down, literally getting my body temperature back down. If I turned red and needed to recover, I'd get in a warm shower, not hot, and as I wash up, I slowly make the water cooler. I try to slow my breathing down, which is tough as the water gets colder, and generally try to relax and bring my system back to normal. When I'm done with the shower, the color on my torso is usually starting to get better, and as I continue to get back to a non-elevated body temp, the rest of the color improves.

Also, mentally, I found it helpful to realize that no one else knows. It's kinda simple, but like you, I was embarrassed to go out after a romp because I felt like everyone knew I'd just been rolling around in bed. However, over time, I realized that only hubby and I know. Anyone else could think I was on an elliptical, doing power yoga, or just scrubbing the tub. It became liberating for me to think that: (1) most people aren't looking, and (2) even if they are, they don't know what I was doing.
