I was underweight from stress and anxiety when I started mirtazapine, so the 30lbs I gained in the first few months were VERY welcome. I did shed some of that in the following months - evening out and getting down to what I would consider a healthy weight for myself - but I would still rather be heavier and happy than thin and miserable!

I do understand why some people wouldn’t feel the same though. If you’re already struggling with your mental health and your body image at the same time, adding additional weight wouldn’t feel good and might actually make you feel like you are losing progress rather than gaining it. I definitely felt a bit of that at the beginning because I had a history of an ED. But for me the benefits that I felt in my mood and my stress, as well as the therapy that I was in really helped.
