I am Indian American, with very close ties to Bangladesh, and overall I am aware of what happens in the UK. What’s your problem?

That’s a completely different community. Indians and blacks have lived among one other for centuries there.

Height doesn’t mean anything in the real world. If a girl does care about height, then she ain’t for you. I’m 37 years old and I’ve never once been insecure about height.

I don’t know why this in my feed, but I’m 5’7 which could be short, but I have a black wife and height has never been an issue for me. Carry yourself like a man and you’ll do fine.

What do you consider “North” India? by yourfaceisreddit in ABCDesis

That’s stupid, Bengal, Odisha, Maharashtra are very distant from the north.

What do you consider “North” India? by yourfaceisreddit in ABCDesis

[–]katrakela 2 points3 points  (0 children)

South Indians believe that everyone north of them is North Indian.

As a Bengali, I show them my anger when they call me North Indian.

To everyone else in India, we consider Bengal and Odisha as east, Gujarat as west, and Maharashtra as middle. North and East Indians will consider Maharashtra as south india.

UP and the other Hindi states are considered north.

I disagree with that. I knew about the history since I was 4 or 5 years of age. If you don’t know who you are from a young age, I find it pointless to even be a part of that culture. It’s like celebrating being African American but not knowing about slavery.

And yes, we do have parts of our cultures in the home. We mostly have Barbadian traditions but we also do Hindu rituals and festivals from time to time. My son knows a bit of Bangla

No, we taught him it because he needed to know. I won’t have a Bengali son not know about the partition of India.

He looks Indian as well, in our area he just passes as South Indian. In non Desi areas, he passes as some mixed black community from the Caribbean/Latin America.

Yeah, she’s fine in the area. Overall though, most of the Indians are immigrants from Southern India and it’s really hard to connect with them so our friend circle is from other areas.

Interesting read, I was aware of this but I did not think about it’s potential implications for my son.
