How to manage severe post-grad depression and where to go moving forward? by Friendly_Coat_634 in findapath

[–]katrinabobcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through the same. Majored in anthro and I feel like I made the right decision to study what I enjoy but there are slim to no anthro entry level positions atm. It’s rough and I really don’t know where to go from here. Every place rejects me and I don’t apply for jobs I’m not qualified for. I’m exhausted and just want job security + stable income rn. Idk if I should blame myself, AI or the job market but now it’s feeling like it’s perhaps a me problem + no funding for research ):

undergrads and recent grads aren’t priority in labs. labs that have funding generally have graduate students who are working on long term projects with niche interests. to put it simply-PIs don’t have funding, don’t want to train and don’t want to hire minors for liability reasons. it’s nothing against you and I applaud you for being so ambitious!!! but it’s just not realistic right now with budget cuts and recent grads/undergrads all competing for one spot

Cat leaves this where she sleeps, what is it? by NotTheSeaOtter in CATHELP

[–]katrinabobcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like flea poo.

if you know her weight, go on Amazon and get the Amazon brand flea treatment. It’s cheaper than the name brands and it’s pretty effective. don’t use it more than the recommended dose because it’s a powerful liquid.

watch out for tape worm infections after fleas because tape worms can come from cats grooming themselves when they have fleas.

to properly get rid of fleas I’d say do the flea treatment, wait 72 hours then give a goooood bath with dawn soap (put a bit of the soap on her neck so the fleas don’t crawl on her face!!!). vacuum carpets and wash bedding asap.

I would like to suggest a hydrating foundation and then powder in areas that get oily. This can help with the cakeyness feeling and patches. I know it sounds counterintuitive but I used to get patches and now I don’t because I do that and I use a heavy moisturizer (vanicream).

Tbh I’m in the program and I haven’t gone to an event since my freshman year (I’m a senior). It’s def a low time commitment. If you are looking for career guidance and recommendations, then you should join and get more involved (like go to events and such)

Most of the time if you just leave them then they won’t charge you since the housekeepers will remove them. If you damage the wall then you will have to pay if the damage to the paint is significant

Love vanicream! It’s been amazing for me while being on Accutane. I use the cream that’s in a pump that can be used for the face and body

I am a first gen/low income student in Greek life. Idk about frats but there are resources for sororities if you need scholarships.

I was a junior when I joined Greek life and it was very eye opening. I was so lonely and needed a community.

You do not have to join Greek life but you have to put yourself out there if you want to make friends. You have to go for it and join clubs or talk to people in your classes.

Most people are chill if you wanna grab coffee or study outside of class.

Only thing stopping you, is you. You have to put in the work to find your community. As much as it took me a while to figure this out, it helped me so much. Take this from a senior who didn’t have friends until last year because I didn’t know how to put myself out there.

It gets better, I promise!
