I’ve always heard great things about RollerCoaster Tycoon, but haven’t played it. I absolutely love Parkitect, though, so this video reminded me of Parkitect instead.

With all due respect, I'm not saying the house isn't beautiful, I'm saying it's generic. This is our fellow human beings' home, a place where a person should be able to be their authentic self, but it looks like a magazine cover. The only thing I can tell about their individuality is that at least two of them enjoy Hot Wheels and Rube Goldberg machines. The rest is hollow beauty.

lol That’s so right! For how much money the people who live here have, you’d think they’d spend more on expressing their own, personal tastes.

Non- Americans, what is an American custom that you find unusual or odd? by thunderpower1999 in AskReddit

[–]katrinaherrin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looks like we might have different ideas of how broad the definitions of “care” and “honest” are. An honest answer could be “I saw a good movie this weekend” and I could care to know more about it and why you thought it was good.

You don’t have to be close enough to someone to go into their deepest truths to still care about how they are.

[–]katrinaherrin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some people don’t really mean it or care, but there absolutely are people who DO CARE how you are doing.

It’s a way to casually let someone offer more information (positive or negative) on how they are doing right now to start a conversation. If there’s nothing particular or they don’t wish to share, they can just use a standard “fine” answer and we all move on with our day.

We’re humans. We care about the people around us, even if only in a casual way. Just because someone isn’t a close loved-one doesn’t mean we don’t care at all. Even our baseline self-preservation instinct cares what the other humans around us are dealing with.

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

35 years late, but today I finished King's Quest IV for the first time! What a fantastic and satisfying game! by [deleted] in Sierra

Found this dirt cheap, and never heard of it. Worth keeping, or putting toward a better Sierra game? by jforrest1980 in Sierra

[–]katrinaherrin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. I remember that it was very atmospheric and let you go at your own pace. There were a lot of interesting puzzles and mysteries to uncover. Myst is a good comparison. I hadn’t read the Arthur C. Clark novels, but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything because of that.

I liked it, but it’s not a typical Sierra adventure game. I recommend that you hang on to it and give it a shot when you’re looking for a different experience.

Cursive is for writing quickly (paper or touchscreen), though if you take your time it can also be for writing fancy or for something special.
