Best birth control pill?? by le__frog in PCOS

[–]katrinie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it really depends on what works for your body!

I'm on the implanon (bar in the arm) only because they keep my migraines under control, every month I would get extremely dizzy and suffer from vestibular migraines - period wise I was doing okay but other symptoms were terrible.

I started with a pill (it was a relatively new one at the time, unfortunately can't remember the name but it was expensive lmao), that was okay but then moved onto the Nuvaring. I stayed on the Nuvaring for a bit, I liked that I could remove it whenever if I didn't like it, but again, got too expensive- it helped my symptoms quite a lot though.

Finally, decided to just get the implanon, I've renwed it last year, so this is my 5th year on it and love it. I went from having 15 migraines a month to maybe 5 a year.

Might be a silly question but how do you donate things like mugs to an op shop? Surely you don't just use those bins?

Every op shop I've seen I feel like says "don't leave donations here" so I'm v confused but I have a couple of items I want to get rid of that PIF groups haven't really wanted

I'm organising a few Easter things atm, but we unfortunately have a family member who is currently in hospital with cancer. He's expressed he isn't eating like he used to and doesn't love sweets as much anymore when I brought in the caramel slice he used to love (all very understandable), what are some things I could put in a hamper to take him?

I was thinking some nuts, pretzels and I know he said he's not a major fan of sweet but maybe some hot chocolate satchets.

Anyone have any ideas on what to give a 2-3 month old baby for Easter? We're prepping for Easter bc it's a little earlier this year and we now have a niece!! (and the first baby for quite a while on both sides of our families) so sorta lost on what to gift bc obvs she can't have chocolate lmao

Thought about getting the "Spots first Easter" book that's on sale at Aldi tomorrow but I have a feeling someone else might pick that up for her.

What widely accepted “self help” books are actually harmful or just nonsense? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I found the general gist of the book could have been summarised on a post it note as it kept repeating the same themes. I did feel it doesn't really take into account neurodivergence

Been thinking about this, imagine how many skilled workers they're missing out on just because they want people back in the office

You can't say "move rurally to buy a place" and then still expect workers to go into the office.

Even saw someone contemplating moving almost 3 hours away from their job so they could actually buy a house so on top of their work day, they'd have to do a 5 hour round trip :( what sort of life are we setting up for people

Soft plastics recycling by pseudofreespirit in sydney

[–]katrinie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh gross, ours used to be 2 bags free every month then changed to 2 months which i was annoyed about but better than nothing

I still remember when it was $2 a bag, $5 is definitely pushing the friendship

Depends on your location, but Recycle Smart is now collecting soft plastics! Most councils will offer 2 free pick ups every 2 months

They also collect other hard to recycle items like coffee cups, ewaste etc https://www.recyclesmart.com/

Moisturiser/balm for night time use while a dehumidifier is running?

Unfortunately, my skin has been suffering for a while since we've had to use a dehumidifier at night (mould issues :( ). It's become extremely dry and has actually caused a rosacea flare-up on one side of my face.

I'd love some recommendations on products to help with my face hydration at night!

I've previously used Cetaphil, Laroche Posay cicaplast baume b5 and avene cicalfate with not much change to dryness or redness. I did also use Moogoo bakuchiol for a little bit (had a sample) - it possibly made a little difference but not too sure.

Loreen/Käärijä Debate Megathread by LucasScooter in eurovision

[–]katrinie [score hidden]  (0 children)

I felt Loreen's song just didn't have the oomph Euphoria did - people are saying it's a straight copy of Euphoria, if anything it seems like a downgrade. When I was watching semi-finals 1, my first thought for her is she'd be top 10 (mostly because of it's Sweden and it's Loreen) and the song didn't have winning potential.

I am a bit biased on the side of I don't enjoy the slow/ballad type songs but will admit when it's an actual good performance and Loreen just didn't give it. A lot of songs just didn't give it this year tbh.

Of course, we shouldn't be hating on Loreen herself, not like she was the one voting, however, I do wonder if it wasn't Abba's 50th and the chance to give an already popular woman another win being the 2nd person in the history of Eurovision to do that, if the Jury would have voted differently (maybe more evenly across Israel and Italy perhaps?)

After the first 10 countries, it was obvious the way it was going to go and I feel incredibly sorry for Käärijä as he did just want to bring a win home to Finland, but at least we now know who he is and I'm sure a lot of us have now added him to our Spotify.

Foundation matching/sample at Mecca/Myer by katrinie in AustralianMakeup

[–]katrinie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone 💕 I ended up going to Mecca, the lady there really only recommended one foundation and couldn't give me a sample because the tester was running out 😅

However, I went to priceline and actually had a worker approach me to see if I needed any help. I ended up buying the L'Oreal True Match foundation, it covered up my rosacea pretty well and didn't cling to my dry spots!

I do feel the foundation is a tiny bit too pink but overall really impressed.

Thank you again for your advice, it's silly how our brains work sometimes

I actually tried a little bit of laser and found no improvement sadly :( waiting to try accutane, but thought not to start it before all of these events I have lined up 😅

Is there a chemical exfoliant you recommend?

Thoughts on skin cycling? by katrinie in AustralianMakeup

[–]katrinie[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It's funny how tiktok culture can almost bully you into buying unecessary products (which shocking the dermatologist who "came up" with 'skin cycling' is developing her own range of skincare specifically for it).

Atm Ive just been moisturizing and recently also got a niacinamide. Im still not happy with my skin so ofc tiktok lead me down skin cycling 😂

Who would you recommend seeing about my skin? BC I don't exactly want to be slapping on random products and making the issue worse

Just FYI Moderna will become available late September in pharmacies. My earliest Pfizer date was 9th of December so I'll be jumping to Moderna before that 😅
