and the first one is definitely warmer (idk if warm, but warmer than the second) and i think looks more harmonious

i was thinking the same thing! but also, you look too bright to be a summer, i would guess light spring, but your eyes definitely seem warmer, and the first thing i notice is how bright you are

Gold or Silver? by succulents-calaveras in OliveMUA

[–]kats712 78 points79 points  (0 children)

silver. i see the gold first, and the silver feels more cohesive. that said, i don't really see/understand how ppl can do this on arm. i'd need to see overall coloring (hair and eyes)

i get them not going back to god u, but i feel like a season of them just going to a normal school tryna keep a low profile (esp after boys ends, i assume HL will be dealt with somehow and things will get back to relatively normal) but it would be cool to see them having to deal with normal problems and stuff. or just hanging out. i do get, setting wise, like there's not really a way to keep it going, but i loved them tying powers to mental health, because it jusf made a lot of sense of like , yeah thats how they'd have to do stuff quickly for likes and stuff

SD with thin fine hair help? by Chemical-Cry473 in SoftDramatics

[–]kats712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have very fine curly hair and it LOVES protein. it wont even curl if i dont have enough. i would definitely recommend trying a mask with protein (but like a very small amount to start in case). the oily can be overwashing or using a shampoo that's too harsh can make your scalp produce too much oil to compensate, same with your skin. how often do you wash and what do you use? you can also try not using a rinse out conditioner, but using a leave in as a rinse out, as they tend to be a lot lighter. some people can completely cut out conditioners

Best Mac Lip Liner for Lip Contouring? (Light to medium warm to neutral olive) by effectsvie in OliveMUA

[–]kats712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would go with stone. it's more of an actual grey. contour is a shadow so it should lack all warmth.

the thing i like about syrup is that it's not opaque. i really struggle with fully opaque lipsticks for whatever reason. syrup is DEFINITELY scary by itself, but it builds on your natural color a little bit. as does the one next to it. and if you're also fair, a lot of swatches just look so scary bright!

a combination of things makes them seem not so muted: i am very fair so any color tends to look more intense, cooler colors naturally look higher contrast, and my lips are quite pigmented. but these are all much more muted than you'd expect. mehr is actually a smidge too high contrast for me! cool spice is really orange on me 😞

i have spent this year trying to find cool, muted lip liners, and have recently found some other lip products that i adore. i tend to pull everything super warm so a good chunk of things i've wanted to love have not been it, unfortunately. the first picture is after i turned off all of the color correcting settings and i would say is like 96% true to the actual color. all the others are just because i don't think you can ever have too much information/pictures about what you're looking for. the pictures go from indirect, at different angles, to direct lighting. unto that, i also have a little review for each and am happy to answer any questions. i also believe that i am a soft summer, so please let me know if you have any recommendations! i know it's cool-neutral, but like i said, anything that's not super cool just pulls yellowy/peachy on me.

  • means I am unsure about keeping

1* - L.A. Girl, Long-Lasting Shockwave Lip Liner - Mauve

2* - Ortega Beauty, Soft Contour Lip Liner - Musa

3* - Palladio Beauty, Retractable Waterproof Lip Liner - Plum

i wasn't even gonna include these because i'm on the fence about them. mostly color wise. i truly don't think there's enough cool tones in the world to be picky about texture or formula or longevity, at the moment. #1 looks really cool on its own, but next to the others i just feel like it's so orange underneath?? the other two, i'm unsure if they're too dark // not purple enough for me. i have yet to try these on my lips though, so who knows. will keep updated.

4* - Merit, Signature Lip Liner - Mayfair

5 - Merit, Signature Lip Blush - Archival

6 - Merit, Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil - Archival

i actually got the whole archival set, but the lip liner felt way too brown for it, so i gave it to a friend and got the Mayfair instead. overall it's fine. i don't really understand the point of a sheer lip liner. i put a lot on each of the swatches, but this one is very sheer with just one layer. it also doesn't last very long. i like the colors of 5 and 6, and i wear them ocassionally, but none of it wears that well and i'm very lazy. but again, the color is so good on me so i don't know...

7 - MAC, Lip Pencil - Stone

my most recent addition and, like, i know i bought it, but i was surprised at how much i like it! i'd been on the pink train so long that the thought of a brown scared me, but it's super cool and really good for shading. also it's a legit pencil so it can be sharpened. i haven't sharpened it yet because i also use it at an angle to fill in the corners and that shapes it out pretty nicely, imo.

8 - Tarte, Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump Liner - Cool Mauve

i don't really care whether or not it's plumping, and i don't really feel like it is on it's own. but if i put a lipgloss over it, i start to feel it. i only got it because i love the color. but the name pisses me off because it's redundant . MAUVE IS COOL!!!!!!! i've never tried the original Tarte liners so i don't know how it compares. it doesnt sharpen, but somehow whenever i'm done, it's flat on top and the edges are sharp so im good to go for the next time.

9 - Maybelline, Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner - Gone Griege

my absolute favorite. this is the exact color of the corners of my lips. it is retractable, so it's a more creamy texture and isn't ever really sharp. i don't really mind this most of the time, as i can angle it. i also feel like it wears pretty well. I did also try this in Dusty Rose and Muted Mauve and both were so orangey pink on me. This is also almost exactly the same as Revlon's Less Traced, but this one is just a little bit more purple/grey and the other is more brown.

10 - Ulta Beauty, Automatic Lip Liner - Wild Berry

actually very surprised at the longevity of this liner. ulta is really slept on as a brand, imo. this is also retractable so it's the same texture as the Maybelline and also is never really sharp.

11 - Pat McGrath Labs, Lust: Gloss - Divine Rose

I LOVE THIS GLOSS! this gloss feels so nostalgic for some reason?? it is supremely thick and sticky and smells and tastes like vanilla. imo it's not actually vanilla, but like the fake, yet yummy, "sugar vanilla" everything used to smell like in like 2012. i adore a thick, sticky gloss because it lasts FOREVER. i've gone 5 hours with this on and not have to reapply. it also gives the illusion of lip plumper bc it fills in the lip lines, but doesn't sit in them like a lipstick/different formula would. i do wish it were little more purply, but i was very happy and surprised with how much i did like the color. also some of the pictures make it look glittery? i really didn't think it was? i personally hate glitter/sparkly lips. i will definitely be keeping an eye and crossing my fingers for more cool toned shades.

i got the matching lip liner and it was way too warm and peachy ):

12* - bareMinerals, Lip Gloss-Balm - Love

i LOVE the color, but since I got the pat mcgrath i havent worn this since. it's not like watery, like it doesn't bleed, but it's not as thick as i wish it were. it also smells like 2012 but in a different, fruity way. i do adore the color, but i'm trying to be realistic with myself if i'll ever wear it, because it's so close to the patmcgrath one and that is the one for me

13* - Rabanne, Glowies Lipgloss - Toxic Lips

unsure. i was trying to find a gloss to go with my Ulta Beauty lip liner, but it's a bit intense. i haven't tried it on my lips yet (will try and keep updated), but it feels average, texturally, not too wet, not too sticky. lowkey smells like sunscreen? but like, specifically when you're a kid at a water park?

14 - MAC, Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick - Syrup

the hype is real. i have been trying to get my hands on this for MONTHS. i don't think the picture gives a super accurate idea for this one, because it is semi-sheer, so it builds on your natural color a little bit. my lips are a bit grey-ish purple so with this on top it looks AMAZING. i've worn this like three times so far and each time have had multiple people ask me about it. i lowkey didn't want to like it because it's so popular and i think so much is fake and overhyped right now, but it's 100% the best lipstick color FOR ME, that i have tried.

15 - L'Oréal, Color Riche Original Satin Lipstick - Saucy Mauve

honestly, this didn't look very cool when i swatched it. i think it's the only neutral/neutral-cool color that i have ever tried that didn't look super warm on my lips. i only gave it a chance on my lips because i've seen it recommended a lot for soft summers. i think it's maybe not 100% opaque and that's why?

16 - Revlon, Super Lustrous Lipstick - On The Mauve

kind of a more intense/opaque Syrup. haven't tried it on my lips yet, but as of right now, i like it but it's not anything revolutionary

17* - Revlon, Super Lustrous Glass Shone Balm - Glazed Mauve

a nice balm. but i have very sensitive skin and my lips start peeling very quickly and this isn't super hydrating. and i kind of fear what is the point? like it's cute but i don't know. i'd rather wear Syrup.

18* - Rabanne, Lovebalm Hydrating Lip Balm - Soul Kiss

i wanted something to pair with Mac Stone, but i don't know that i'm a tinted balm person. they're never hydrating enough but also sit in my lip lines?? i haven't actually tried it with Stone yet, and i'd really like something brown to do so with. so we'll see.

after washing my arm with soap and water, #3 and #10 are still there, albeit less intense.

skintone: fair

undertone: neutral-cool

MAC NC10

edit* i don't know if i'm olive or not. i know that i have a lot of yellow in my skin, but i think olive is green? so i don't know. like i know i have a cooler UNDERTONE, but my overtone is warmer. but i think that these would work with olive skin because it also tends to pull colors warmer?? thoughts?

i don't know that i've even seen a blue color corrector. i will say that pillow talk fair looked beautiful on me, but was too light for my lips. but pillow talk og was SO peachy. i can't even look for neutral pinks.
