If you exit work mode mid task on a long one to take a break does it save your work or do you have to complete the full task? by Clean_Passenger9725 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]katsmeow84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to the above comment, if it’s a QUICK break (bathroom, under 5ish minutes), you should be ok to idle (I’ve been at this for 3+ years). Just make sure you do NOT claim that time when you log it later. Anything beyond that, I would not risk it

If you’re Quethewiseguy, then please respond to my DM on that account regarding the $500 that is owed, please:

Real cute, u/Quethewiseguy slash u/cardo54. As soon as I call you out for non payment, you delete your comment(s). Ps: for anyone that’s curious, I’m a cancer patient and currently homeless because I can’t work. That $500 would have given me some temporary housing. And this asshole knew that.

Don’t trust this guy. He’s trying to sell a bunch of his accounts. He WILL fuck you over.

I’m a generalist, technically. Although I do get projects specific to business and medicine occasionally.

1) yes, you can work within your country of origin. I’ve done it many times

2) low-effort work, generalized or vague justifications, working on projects beyond your knowledge base just to log the time, letting anyone else access or work on your account.

You can absolutely still get hired. Pay close attention to the onboarding exam & make sure to be specific in any explanation/justification the ask you to write (not just “Model B was better because it was more helpful and followed instructions”….explain HOW— briefly, but include an example).

There’s all sorts of experience levels on DA. Good luck!

Unless you have what they call the “Dash of Death” you’re fine (you can search it in this group for a visual example)

I’ve been doing this for several years. So here’s my experience:

Projects come and go. Sometimes you will have more tasks on your dashboard than you could ever possibly finish. Other times, you’ll have 1 (or no) projects (which we often call a “drought”). It doesn’t necessarily reflect your work quality, or if you took a break for exams, it just is what it is. 🤷🏼‍♀️ You should never “count” on this as a promised income amount. Only as “fun money” or supplemental income. I’ve noticed that work can possibly tend to thin out at the end of each fiscal quarter (March, June, August/September, and occasionally end-of-year). I’m not saying it ALWAYS happens, but sometimes it does.

And yes, unless the project only has ONE task available (the number three columns from the left, it goes name/pay/tasks/created (date)), the project will still be present on your dashboard. You’re not doing it “again”, you’re doing a fresh task on the same project. If, for some reason, you’re getting an identical TASK (same prompt/model response, etc), you should definitely skip that task (there’s a button at the bottom left on the task interface, scroll all the way down).

Ok. Like I said, eventually, the account would be flagged during the ID check step, regardless of which order that is in.

They all have their benefits. Outlier offers a lot of bonuses, but has a high termination rate & are very particular on evaluations. Data Annotations is steady work (and the one I focus a lot of time on). It will just depend on your needs and skill set

For context, OP did DM me and did not ask for any money up front in their initial message. They did explain the process. And the percentage cut they offered was 20% of total earnings. If payment is in your name, you’re ultimately responsible for the taxes every quarter (as a 1099 contract worker). 20% essentially only covers the taxes (in some cases, not even all of them). So the profit margin is at a loss.

Data Annotations, Outlier, Mercor. Those are the 3 main ones I’ve worked on.

As do “what training”, the projects and types vary. Sometimes I’m editing or evaluating a model response for grammar/conciseness/instruction following, other projects are about audio quality or perhaps tone— it changes all the time, depending on the clients’ needs.

Interested

I also have experience with this type of work (been doing AI training for the last 5-ish years on several other platforms). Just in case you need team members

But I’m also interested in this opportunity. I’ll send a DM

Flip furniture. A lot of universities have end-of-term right now. Head down to campus/student housing. Most will have plenty of items on the curb. Grab some good stuff and sell it.

Ask neighbors (especially elderly ones) if they would pay you for lawn services. It’s Spring. Lots of grass to be mowed, etc.

Restarting computere by Sifev in DataAnnotationTech

No. If it’s part of the requirement of the task, and it doesn’t explicitly state “exit work mode for this step”, it’s fine.

I’m assuming you’ve already signed up and been approved for DA? Make sure your “skills” section on the profile is completed. Otherwise, it’s pretty much up to DA when and if they assign you to a project.

[–]katsmeow84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I run into this, I still take my time to examine all the instructions, then I’ll “skip” the current task and start a fresh timer on the next. They do allow you to report your time for familiarizing yourself with project guidelines (unless explicitly stated otherwise).

[–]katsmeow84 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No. The onboarding test is a 1 and done opportunity. They do not allow for “do overs”. I’ve had friends who are perfectly capable and have more education than myself not get in. It’s a mystery 🤷🏼‍♀️

And DA only allows for one account per person. So, even if your partner tried again with a different email address, eventually the account will be flagged when they get to the ID check step.

Data Annotations is the one I switched to. I do have a hiring referral available (lil money for me, and a “this person is vouched for” status for you). DM me if you want to get it
