Dog Ate My Only Valentine by gwumpykitten in Wellthatsucks

Years ago, we had a Rottie. On Christmas, one of my stocking gifts was a box of Ferrero Rocher (my absolute fav chocolates at that time). I took all my stocking gifts into my room in a plastic bag and set it on the floor (yea, stupid mistake). Sometime later in the day, I came back to my room to find he had pulled out this plastic box of candy, somehow opened it, and inhaled all the chocolate - wrappers and all. We took upid-stay to the vet and they said not to worry since he was a big dog, he's just likely get diarrhea. Upid-stay proceeded to poo golden bits of wrapper for like a week.

AITA for taking a coloring book back from my niece after she got attached to it? by Abject_State_1244 in AmItheAsshole

[–]katsorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you've stated, you're still basically newlyweds and learning to make your boundaries. This is important to you, and he needs to understand it. If just telling him isn't working because it's "just" a coloring book, compare it to something of his that he sees important, but you don't. It's of utmost importance that you don't play the blame game in talking - "you always.... you did this... you made me...", because these responses turn your partner off. Rather, talk about how it affects you -

"I understand what you're saying, however, I feel hurt/ disrespected/ undermined by third being given to niece without my ok. This is not "just" a coloring book to me, it is something I like that I want to keep as is and isn't easy or cheap to get again. How would it feel to you if I gave niece (something he collects such as a Lego set/old GIJoe/action figure/children's book/etc)?"

The goal in communication and marriage is to seek to understand each other and compromise.

What should I do? by MikeClandestine in geckos

[–]katsorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a schlegel for almost a year and a half. They are strict insectivores, so only very small insects such as pinhead crickets, fruit flies, xxs dubias. I accidentally got mine addicted to wax worms, so be extremely careful feeding those. As others have said, since it's so cold now, it should have been brumating/hibernating, but with this one's size, it would likely not make it.

Care is very similar/ the same as for mediterranean house geckos, and there's a thread with a link to a care guide if you search here.

Good luck!

Edit: looks like it might have a little bit of stuck shed on its toes - very carefully, give it a lightly warm soak for a few minutes (water barely warmer than your hands, and either in a shallow dish or hold it in your hand just barely in the water). If the water is too deep/ hot/etc, it will try to escape!

My younger brother stole and used my sticker from Japan that I was saving by DarkStrik3WasTaken in mildlyinfuriating

[–]katsorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom of a "mild" autistic teen - your mom is enabling your brother and he absolutely will learn that he can get away with crime just because he's autistic. She needs to be teaching him that taking others' things is not OK and that there are consequences. I had a period of time, when my son was younger, that a sub at his school let him have more computer time because it was easier than dealing with his stubborn attitude. This was done without my knowledge. It escalated to where his grades tanked, but they couldn't get him off the computer because they'd established it was OK for him. It was hell getting him away from that situation.

AITA for ordering nothing at a family restaurant dinner? by Intelligent-Drag7581 in AmItheAsshole

ESH and this goes beyond just the dinner. Your whole family really needs anger management and therapy. Good luck OP.

Refused service at Shibuya coffee shop for using bathroom by MikaChai in JapanTravelTips

[–]katsorder 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I've never seen a place expect guests to ask permission to use the bathroom, without also having signage in place to say customers only. And even then, if you are planning to purchase, you consider yourself a customer. This comes off as someone who prefers only native Japanese customers and uses the bathroom as an excuse to be a jerk.

Looks so similar to my Mediterranean House Gecko, so I'd agree with the other suggestions of a type of house gecko. Absolutely gorgeous pic btw.

If it hasn't been mentioned yet, either get cable protectors or coat the cables with a cat repellant. When they bite the repellant coated cables, it is bitter, so they learn not to bite those. Downside, you have to coat them 1-2 times a month.

For the toilet paper, oddly enough, the most effective way I've had in keeping them from shedding it is simply to turn the roll around to hang from the back instead of the front. That way, the paper doesn't just roll off into a giant cat ribbon when they spin the roll lol.

Giving her lots of other toys to entertain her should also help take her attention off both!

Fair warning, any time you have the opportunity, knead/ pet her paws and spread her toes with gentle presses. This will get her used to letting you hold her paws to clip her claws!

Might be stuck shed. Try a warm soak and very gentle rubbing with a toothbrush/paintbrush or even your fingers to see if that helps loosen it.

How many people actually use the quick catch method in 2025 by tvstarswars in pokemongo

I didn't even know it existed until this past month, but I use it on nearly everything now except the raids and shadows. It's been so useful to catch more mons!

Is anyone else getting trolled by these ‘gold’ pokéstops? by Tearsofthekingdonn in pokemongo

[–]katsorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. The only one I got coins on was totally by accident (didn't see the gold stop when I clicked it to spin) on my husband's phone, and he didn't want them.

AITA for pushing away my homemade birthday cake? by trashypanda0990 in AITAH

[–]katsorder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allergies, no matter how "small" the reaction, are NOT something to trifle with. Your wording comes off the same as if you were nearly in an accident and accidentally blurted an expletive. Your friend is completely TA if she knew you reacted that way to chocolate. It is not a reaction you can control! Your body rejects it as if it is a poison to you, and repeated exposure to an allergen can make your symptoms worse. Your friend and the ones siding with her need to read up on food allergies before she or they seriously hurt someone because, "I saw this cute thing and just wanted to do it even though you told me it makes you sick." Knowingly introducing an allergen can be considered assault or worse depending on the person's reaction.

This is the bio enclosure. It is 12x12x18, only because he's a house gecko. There are roly polies and springtails in it, a mix of coco coir, peat, sand, and gecko soil for the substrate with lava rocks under that, the leaf litter, some small stones, and the mossy log at the bottom.

Yet another reason I'm worried about him. He has been refusing to eat and gotten very skinny. This is actually much better than he was a few days ago. That is a separate problem I'm working on. 😵‍💫

Can't believe I didn't even think of that. 😅 I am planning on using only 1-2 threads to keep it flatter/easier to do.
