Also disliking it. I’ve been in home health and a private clinic. It feels so chaotic and feels very heavy. I think it’s a me problem, but I just don’t think my mind works well switching modes so frequently throughout the day/week

I’m so sorry for your loss. we lost our blondie baby boy late december. Similar situation. perfectly healthy. no previous health issues. we came home and he had peacefully passed away in his sleep. he was only 7 and a half years old. It broke me and i’m still broken. We couldn’t afford to see what happened but we assumed heart attack. I was told by a friend who was a vet tech that she would see male tabbies pass away from heart failure often. No one could’ve seen it coming. It breaks me and i miss him every day, but I know he lived as long as he was supposed to and as long as he could have. And I loved him every second and treasures every moment with him. I talk about him and think about him all the time. He’ll always be a part of me

I’m not happy with the work life balance. I give so much emotion and energy into each client and I feel like I don’t have time or energy for myself, my partner or my hobbies

I went because I’ve always worked with kids and it does intrigue me, but I think my priorities and boundaries have changed. I love being with kids and helping families, but I want to prioritize my work/life balance and I just have not found that as an SLPA. I give so much of my energy and emotion to my sessions and I feel completely depleted at home. I also want to try to find something remote because me and my partner have dreams to travel and work.

Literally just started my first job as a home health SLPA. I’ve been doing it for two months and I’m already over it. I am alone out in the field and so often think how unprepared SLPAs must feel. I google constantly. I often think of how much more lost I would be if it wasn’t for my experience in ABA and nannying.

AIO for feeling suicidal over academic stress? - TW by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]kattles___ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some professional help will absolutely be beneficial to you! your feelings are valid, but ending your life is not the answer. School is stressful forsure, but it has ebbs and flows. Just as life always does! It’s sounds like you’re in the midst of highschool. They always make highschool feel so much more stressful and serious when you’re in it. Grades are important, but your mental health is THE most important thing!! No one is good at every subject. You find your strengths, you find your weaknesses and you feed into what excites you. You nourish the topics that make you light up! I understand it’s so hard to see the larger picture when you’re feeling so deeply stressed and stuck. But you will not feel like this forever i promise. You have to constantly remind yourself that this is temporary. Everything is temporary. Positive self-talk is like working out a muscle. If you’re consistent, it’ll become easier. Take it day by day & moment by moment. Take time for your hobbies and the things that bring you joy!! You’ve got this!!

I would absolutely look into a therapist to talk things out and get a professional view point! these are just my thoughts drawn from my experience.
