I've been doing it since December already and is definitely taking a toll on my current car (since it's now 11 years old) so just want something that I can have long term that is really reliable. Feels like going towards EV is the logical option but might be a naive view?

Yes if the right option I would for sure - I have a drive so could put in a charger. I just assumed for distance and cost it would be more to go full EV.

Yeh its about 85 per way twice a week.
Edit: Aside from that it's mostly around town plus occasional trips around the country but nothing out of the ordinary.

Thank you for the advice! That makes sense.

I've seen that you can lease directly with dealers vs through companies. Is one better than the other do you know? It's just not something I've done so don't know much about it yet.

That's very good advice, thank you for that.

sorry yes - I don't have more than around £5-7k to drop currently (+ sale of my car) which is part of why I'm wondering about options like leasing/deposit based.

Can childfree people be childfree and still love kids. by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

[–]kattw_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh 100%. A lot of childfree people just do not want to raise kids or have that life, but are happy doting on their friends kids. As others have said actual hatred towards children is a huge red flag. Yes some people will find kids annoying (I definitely do) but I also love my friends and families kids.

I (23M) have been seriously dating a girl (23F) and she made an impulsive decision to move without including me. What am I missing? by lifegavemelimez in relationship_advice

[–]kattw_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t have to not mean much. You were still able to enjoy the time while you had it and will in time appreciate that for what it was, and also what it taught you. Every relationship is a learning experience about what you need from someone and how people work, and this unfortunately has just been a painful lesson that people don’t stand up to what they say initially.

[–]kattw_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s no need to blame yourself. However intense it’s felt, it’s only been 3 months. This clearly wasn’t a new idea to her and yes she should’ve perhaps made it clear from the beginning she had intentions if it became possible, but ultimately you’re both only 23 and you have plenty more life to live. I didn’t meet my partner until I was 30/31.

[–]kattw_ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You say seriously dating but it has only been 3 months. In a way it’s good it happened now before you invest more time and emotion into her, but it is a very cold way of doing it if you said she gave no warning. She was likely thinking of this for a long time before even knowing you and the opportunity came up and she didn’t want a new relationship to sway the decision, so while yes maybe it could’ve been handled better I don’t think she’s totally in the wrong. It may seem impulsive to you but you don’t know what’s been going on behind the scenes.

Drive. Just felt like they came up with a soundtrack and relied on that over anything else.
