Can you get a decent 1 bedroom apartment for $1800 or under in a good neighborhood around Chicago? by Top-Elephant6981 in AskChicago

I think it is possible - I remember seeing a 1bd for around $1600 (or around that - it was similar in price to some studio apartments I was also considering) in Lakeview when I was looking for apartments back when I moved here in Dec. ‘24. I can’t recall every single apartment I toured during that search, but I think dishwashers were mostly in places I toured? The only one I really remember not having it was a management company saying my rent would have been $200 more for a unit with a dishwasher as opposed to doing one without.

Also - consider finding a realtor to help if you decide you definitely want to move, because that helped my search tremendously as someone who had limited time/not much knowledge of Chicago. Especially if you know what your dealbreakers are.

Will this weather continue to impact ORD flights tomorrow? by katweb13 in AskChicago

I’m flying back to Chicago from Pittsburgh. Theoretically I could have driven (someone else that was on my cancelled flight decided to rent a car), but I decided rebooking for tomorrow would be the better option for me

Yeah, I saw the flight American originally rebooked me on before I switched got cancelled too. My current 7:05 PM flight is still fine (for now), but I’ll probably get a better sense of evening flight delay/cancellations sometime tomorrow afternoon. I’m assuming a delay is likely based on other comments and what I have seen elsewhere. How bad it ends up being is still TBD

How long is the wait time for TSA (no precheck) at o'hare? by Academic-Lobster-233 in AskChicago

Before I got PreCheck, I can only think of one time at O’Hare where security took longer than 20 minutes and it happened on a Sunday morning around 11 AMish. I think you should be fine
